What was your first international trip you ever took? I’ll go first.

I had the incredible opportunity to visit Turkey in 2008. I was 21 years old, and knew next to nothing. But I love history and being able to walk in some of the greatest spots in known history was a surreal experience.

This was before I had a smartphone. I had a memory card and a digital camera. I had culture shock. I slept on an every bus ride and when I was awake, I couldn’t help but think the geography doesn’t look that different from where I grew up.

Our hotel overlooked some of the best historic sites in Istanbul, and I doubt this view is even available today. Most of the memories don’t live in film or on a camera, but rather in my head.

I knew I was going to travel from a very young age, and I’m glad I took risks and saw what I saw before technology changed all of this.

Take the trip. Let it live rent free in your brain for the rest of your life!

Today is National Plan for a Vacation Day. That might SEEM silly, but most Americans don’t use all their earned PTO each year.

Taking a vacation helps you in MANY ways, besides the luxury of being away from work for a few days. Here are some of the benefits.

They help you make memories that last a lifetime. Most adults can’t remember what they got for Christmas when they were 8, but they remember visiting the Grand Canyon at 9, or Walt Disney World for the first time.

When you plan a vacation with me, you are helping support my small family, but also you get me as your subject matter expert. We travel, A LOT. I have traveled solo, with groups, and with kids. My services are free for you to use, and I try to make planning your vacation stress free. What’s the point of a vacation if planning it stresses you out?

Picture for tax of my little family last weekend. We explored one our state parks and saw REAL dinosaur footprints in the river. This world is full of cool things.
