Surrounded by rich nature and beautiful mountains,Central Tottori has a long history of producing exceptional potters. Each potter immerses themselves in a local environment and embodies the characteristics of its soil and the warmth of its people.
Today we present five exceptional potters for you to explore,we encourage you to come and see their works in person,or even try your hand at pottery-making!

🍵 KAZUWA Ware
Many of the artworks are displayed in a classical Japanese home with an Irori,a sunken hearth,in the midst of trees. The pottery has maintained its distinct coloring and artistic style over time.
🍵KAZUWA Ware Mt.KAZUWA Kiln
You will be amazed at the many unique works that vividly showcase the cinnabar style.
🍵FUKUMITSU Ware
A kiln of FUKUMITSU Ware is nestled in Fukumitus town with a view of Mt.Daisen to the west and Mt.Utsubuki to the east. Its ceramics bring beautiful colors to our everyday lives. Why not relax in the comfortable galleries of both the workshop and the climbing kiln.
🍵KURAYOSHI Ware HACHIMAN Kiln
Known for its unique design that utilizes the local environment,like integrating volcanic ash from Mt. Daisen into the glaze,the kiln is located in a holy section of Hachiman Shrine.
🍵UTSUBUKI Ware
In the historic setting of “Akagawara” in Kurayoshi,visitors,including tourists,can engage in the art of pottery making,providing a chance to craft a unique piece in ancient Japanese building equipped with an electric kiln.
