We are currently raising funds to develop our application (and website). Both our app and website will be designed as both an information hub as well as a fun, competitive game which will encourage users to visit more than 300 castles around Scotland and ‘bag’ them. Users will be able to check off their progress on an interactive map/list, share their progress through social media, and get interes
ting information about the castles they visit. Castles will be categorised into type (Public, Private, Ruined, etc) and users will be able to earn points for each castle they visit and can then increase their ranking/titles based on points earned.. Additionally, the ‘page’ of each castle will offer unique historical information/stories. There will also be optional push notifications to alert users when they are passing within 5 miles of an unbagged castle. The inspiration behind Castle Bagging came from the popular Scottish sport of Munro Bagging (climbing the 282 munro mountains in Scotland). We decided to adapt this fun and competitive activity into a more family/visitor friendly adventure. Our hope is to help travelers explore the spectacular and hidden gems often missed by the average visitor.
