✨MONTOKUC Viewpoint on MLJET✨

Montokuc is the most prominent peak on the westernmost branch of the most forested Adriatic island of Mljet. It has always served as an optimal vantage point for observing almost the entire territory of the National Park. From the top of Montokuc local firefighters on duty have been keeping watch for decades in order to alert residents and act immediately at the first sign of a fire. The former lookout cabin that they built themselves in the eighties has now been replaced by a prefabricated pavilion which, besides its primary function of protecting firefighters, also provides an additional attraction and a scenic viewpoint for visitors of Mljet.

Korcula Old Town is the main attraction of Korcula Town – a medieval walled city positioned on an oval-shaped swelling of land pointing deep into the Peljesac Channel. The Old Town itself is grooved with a succession of narrow streets that branch off the spine of the main street like the fishbone. The fishbone shape was used in the Old Town design to reduce the effects of wind and sun and provide citizens with sheltered and comfortable accommodation.

Baljenac (or Bavljenac) is a small island in the Adriatic Sea located just off the coast of Croatia on the Sibenik archipelago. It is an islet of about half a square mile entirely and is covered by a series of dry-stone walls which when seen from above looks like a gigantic human fingerprint, thanks to its oval shape and long rows of stones similar to papillary lines.

🇺🇸✨ We had dragons before they became popular! ✨

Dragon's cave (Zmajeva špilja) contains numerous mysterious symbols of both Christian and pagan world, which includes this cave in a must-see list.
The cave was inhabitated by Glagolithic monks from 15th century, but it seems they were not the first ones to carve their existing into the cave stones.

The cave offers many reliefs of which some contain Slavic mythology symbols.

Although many stories about this cave were already told, many of them are yet to be revealed.

Печера Дракона (Zmajeva špilja) містить численні таємничі символи як християнського, так і язичницького світу, що включає цю печеру в список обов'язкових для відвідування.
Печера була населена глаголиками з 15 століття, але, здається, вони не були першими, хто вирізав своє існування в печерних каменях.

Murvica, a pitoresque village on the island of Brač offers really stunning views. ✨
And this is our starting point when visiting the Dragon's cave, a 15th century cave monastery. The cave is rich with reliefs of which some are considered much older than 15th century since they clearly represent Slavic mythology.

I like to explore. Only a small part of my discoveries are included in my tours. I keep a lot of information to myself until I am ready to roll out everything in order to create unforgettable moments for people visiting the Croatian islands and Split.

At the moment I'm researching three Roman imperial quarries on the island of Brač. From these magnificent archeological locations we can learn so much about life in ancient times when a small magical island played a significant role in building an empire.

The geological phenomenon Koloč near Nerežišća on the is an impressive rock over 10 meters high that creates a natural arch and it looks like a doughnut. Hence its name, because the inhabitants of the island say "koloč" for cake.

Its unusual shape is the result of streambank erosion with the final forming completed by the corrosion and the influence of atmospheric elements in general.

Legends say that on a special occasions elves and fairies gather together to dance on this triumphal arc and decorate it with flowers.

While the Lovrečina Bay on the island of Brač is famous for its beach, it is equally so for its rich archaeological site.

It has the remains two different time periods and cultures attached to them: the Roman and the Early Christian. Particularly important are the remains of the Basilica of St. Lawrence, dated to the 5th and 6th centuries. The northern side of this location is adorned with a cross-shaped baptistery with the ciborium resting on four pillars. ✨

Bura is one of the most famous winds of the Adriatic and is the exact opposite of the jugo. Bura blows from the northeast and from the land towards the sea. It is the strongest, most unpredictable, and most dangerous wind that blows in Croatia, with gusts of up to 300 km/h. Since bura comes from the land towards the sea and passes over the mountain peaks along the coast, it brings cold, dry air.

Kopačina Cave is the oldest human settlement in Dalmatia and one of the oldest in the entire Adriatic island region. This valuable source of history is located near Donji Humac, a small village in the heart of Brač. The cave is divided into two chambers and is 12 meters long. It contains traces of prehistoric humans, including thousands of animal bones from that era and various stone artifacts. Human remains from the late Epipaleolithic and Mesolithic periods were also found.

Печера Копачина є найдавнішим людським поселенням у Далмації та одним із найстаріших у всьому регіоні Адріатичного острова. Це цінне джерело історії знаходиться поблизу Доньї Гумац, маленького села в центрі Брача. Печера поділена на дві камери і має довжину 12 метрів. Вона містить сліди доісторичних людей, включаючи тисячі кісток тварин тієї епохи та різноманітні кам’яні артефакти. Також були знайдені людські останки пізнього епіпалеоліту та мезоліту.

Špilja Kopačina je najstarije ljudsko naselje u Dalmaciji i jedno od najstarijih na čitavom jadranskom otočnom području. Ovaj vrijedan izvor povijesti nalazi se u blizini Donjeg Gumca, malog sela u središtu Brača. Špilja je podijeljena u dvije komore i duga je 12 metara. Sadrži tragove pretpovijesnih ljudi, uključujući tisuće životinjskih kostiju iz tog doba i razne kamene artefakte. Pronađeni su i ljudski ostaci iz kasnog epipaleolitika i mezolitika.
