A little bit of Christmas magic is blowing into downtown Smithville this weekend. Come step into a world of Yuletide enchantment as our town travels back in time to the Dickensian era with a little historical twist. It is sure to be the event of the season with an outdoor ice skating rink, street vendors, period costumes, and more, so don’t miss out! Travelers near and far are invited to join us this Friday from 5-10 pm and this Saturday from 10-10 for the First Annual Dickens on Main- Smithville, TX. Mark your calendars, share with friends, and be sure to follow Dickens on Main - Smithville, TX for more details!

Market will still be open Sunday Dec 17th as usual and will be the last farmers market of the year, as we will be closed on both Sunday Dec 24th and Sunday Dec 31st for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Market will resume in the New Year.

The Smithville hometown lighted Christmas parade was originally named the Fantasy of Lights Parade until producers on the Hope Floats production set renamed it Festival of Lights.

Whether a Fantasy or Festival, it is sure to be a spectacular display of lights, creativity and holiday cheer. The parade route is along 1st Street and turning onto Main Street. Ending at 6th and Main.

The parade will begin at 7PM.

The 2023 parade theme is "A Christmas Carol", named after Charles Dickens 1843 novella of the same title.

The parade is brought to you by the Smithville Area Chamber of Commerce.

Smithville's beloved holiday event, the 32nd Annual Festival of Lights, is back on Saturday, December 2, 2023.

Arts and Craft vendors from all around the region will have booths set up. Indoor at the Smithville Rec Center and outdoors along Main Street, between 1st and 3rd. 10:00AM to 4:00PM This is the place to accomplish all your holiday shopping. Plan to join us!

🐔Join us for the 5th Annual Smithville Wingfest this Saturday, October 21st!! 🐔

Smithville’s favorite Poultry-Party returns in downtown Smithville. Head on over for an entire day of feathered-fun! The event begins at 10AM and concludes with an Award Ceremony at the Gazebo at 4PM.

From 10AM to Noon, watch as cooking teams put their secret recipes to the test vying for your votes in the Wing Cook-Off. Cooking teams of all sizes and skill-levels and the people have the power this year so dazzle our taste buds and compete to be named the 2023 People’s Choice Wing Champion.

The STX Food Pantry Golf Cart 🍬🍬 Crawl is THIS SATURDAY at 1:00PM…we’re kicking things off at Smithville Coffee House & General Store! The Candy Crawl will benefit the Smithville Food Pantry which provides supplemental nutrition for challenged individuals and families and is open for operation each Wednesday from 9:00AM-11:30AM. Close to 6,000 volunteer hours per year go into helping meet the nutritional needs of the elderly, working poor, single-parent families, the unemployed, and physically and mentally disabled residents. The food pantry is a highly respected organization with deep roots in Smithville and is run entirely by volunteers who work tirelessly to provide nutrition assistance to members of the Smithville community.

How it works…

Golf Carts will pick up their STX Golf Cart Scorecards from the Coffee House around 1:00PM. The scorecard will have over 20 local businesses divided in to two rounds. The first round is set from 1:00PM - 4:00PM and the second round is set from 4:00PM - 7:00PM.

Each stop will have a container full of various items and you will guess how many items are in that container! We will award prizes for the TWO closest scores…make sense, sound like fun? Around 7:00PM all carts will report to Huebel to turn in their Scorecard and announce the winners! We will award prizes to the top 3 closest overall scores…Sound like fun?!
