The property is completely fenced including the livestock being fenced separate from the hiking/exploring area. Bunnies dig under, deer might jump over, but everything else stays inside. The Flagstone patio includes dining table, wicker couches and chairs, outdoor fire place, Gas BBQ grill and lighting. THIS IS YOUR DESIGNATED SMOKING AREA. DUE TO EXTREME FOREST FIRE DANGER, PLEASE ONLY SMOKE IN THIS AREA. You will also be able to meet the horses, goats and donkeys from the outside of their Pasture. Indoor amenities include a claw-foot bathtub, whirlpool bath tub, front-load washer/dryer, fireplace, flatscreen t.v. , DVD player, board games/ book/ toys for all ages. Well-stocked kitchen appliances include: dishes, utensils, (plastic for the little ones) coffee cups, glasses, pots & pans, Kitchen Aid mixer, popcorn-popper, blender, pancake griddle, waffle maker, Keurig, drip and French Press coffee makers, Crock Pot, ice maker, ice cream maker, Tw***ie maker and electric fry pan. As parents ourselves, we realize how difficult it can be to pack all you need when vacationing with the tiniest of travelers. We hope the highchair, Pack and Play, baby monitor, toy box full of toys, plastic plates/cups and a child safety gate will help to relieve some of your concerns. The Big D Ranch is on Hwy 64 which leads directly to the south rim of the Grand Canyon via a short, 35-minute drive. The ranch, which borders the Kaibab National Forest, is just a 5-minute drive to Kaibab Lake where you can hike, fish (fishing poles are located in the mud room) or just have a picnic. I think I can honestly say I've found the end of the Universe and it's here in Williams, AZ. A vegetable oil-powered train!! Go figure. . .just another of the unique experiences in Northern Arizona.
Steam engine 4960 is one of 200 steam engines in the U.S. and the only one that runs completely on vegetable oil.

Carrie and I were married at the ranch and it was a beautiful ceremony and reception. The ranch just made into a great publication - Only in Your State. You can register for your state/city and it will daily send you unique ideas for places to eat, stay, visit, etc. I didn't even know this was going to get published. I sent my place in several months ago and a great friend of mine just shared it with me that it was the lead story! I'm so honored that they selected my place for today's edition!

Scooby came to the ranch way under weight and had not been properly taken care of by the previous boarding facility. Donna and Darren worked their magic and look at him now. He's so happy and such a beautiful horse.

Hello everybody. I just had the greatest experience. We were coming out of the front gate when a side-by-side pulled up. The people asked if we were staying there and Carrie responded no, we're the owners. They proceeded to tell us that they've stayed at the ranch twice, The Hites, and wanted to stay with us this weekend for the third time but it was booked. Then, Mrs Hite, said that her son got 2 guinea pigs and named them Keno and Taco, after our horse and donkey because he's loved them so much. I can't begin to describe how much that warmed my heart! What an amazing coincidence.

Hello Everyone! Being that I've been pretty much inside during this 115 degree+ heatwave I managed to actually get something done! I spun up a Big D Ranch store where you can purchase shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts with the ranch's logo. If this goes well I'm going to expand to hats and mugs. Here's the link. My heart is broken. I had to say goodbye to Dakota on Friday, 5/12. He's the 'D' in Big D Ranch! He's been such an amazing dog and I'm so grateful to God for all the time we've had together. I know it may sound strange and it's a long story but I believe God used Dakota when he was a puppy to guide me back to him and I will be forever grateful. He was supposed to lose his leg due to an infection when he was just 1 but he made it through and lived an amazing life and touched so many lives! He was a Therapy Dog at Phoenix Children's Hospital and the Phoenix VA Hospital and had an impact on everyone he met. I will miss him so much but I know where he's going and I know I will see him again someday.

Bearizona closed today to guests due to the weather, but that didn't stop the furry friends at the park from having fun!

We got 7-9" of snow over the last 24 hours and the horses and donkeys apparently just love this kind of weather. To be honest, so do I!! And, we're expected to get another 4-6 in the next 2 days. Now's a great time to spend a few days at the ranch and I have discounted rates for both January and February.

Just saw this article on Kaibab Lake, just 2 miles from the ranch. You can fish, hike or just hang out. And, it's considered one of the most beautiful campsites in the state of Arizona.

The Grand Canyon Caverns, just a short 40-minute drive from the ranch offers a peek in the far past. Take an elevator down, 300-feet below the surface, and you'll see ancient lava caves. There's also a restaurant and the world's ONLY largest, oldest, deepest, darkest, quietest, driest motel room, and it's an experience you'll never forget. You can also dine down in the cave. Tours run 45 minutes, 90 minutes or a 3.5-hour tour that takes deep into the caverns. You can also see a replica of a sloth that feel in the cave and the claw marks are still on the wall where it tried, albeit unsuccessfully, to escape. Well worth the time!

The Rafael Fire was discovered June 18 on the Prescott National Forest, the result of passing predominantly dry thunderstorms and lightning.

Our newly added "KIDS CORRAL" is sure to light up the eyes of your youngest travelers. LOTS of toys for all ages. You will also find a stroller and a child backpacker for you to use. Upstairs on the landing you will find an infant bassinet and a toddler bed.
