RIOT FEST 2024 - Chicago, Illinois
What an amazing experience Riot Fest is every year for me as a photographer and creative.
Not only do I get to photograph tons of great bands as well as the festival experience but I get to spend time with friends & what I consider extended family that I rarely get to see & probably wouldn’t get to see them if it weren’t for the festival bringing us together. We all live in different cities & do different things. We keep in touch but it isn’t the same as working together.
The Riot Fest photo/video crew is an amazing gathering of professionals & creatives. People who get it. People who understand the job & want great imagery as much as I do and support & push each other to do their best work & to feel like they have to pull their weight.
Every year I try to bring something new to my technique to add to the visual but also to push myself. Even after all these years (30 or so and counting…yikes!) I want more. I always want more. I feel like we should always feel slightly unsatisfied. Not less proud of accomplishments, but like we could have done more. We could have pushed harder.
I left the festival feeling tired, feeling good about the work & wanting it to keep going. I think this is healthy. I don’t know if that is just for me or for anyone to feel. I just know that it makes me want to be better at what I do and to spend more time with these people I consider friends and family.
