A ne pas manquer si vous etes la pendant la Toussaint!
Muchisimas Gracias
Krewe de Mayahuel would like to thank every community member that came out to yesterdays procession. Being culture bearers means nothing without a community that is open to learn & share in our traditions that we feel mirror those of New Orleans, a city we all love & that we all call home.
A special thanks to Krewe of Mayahuel members whose traditional Dia De Mu***os attire graced the route with beauty & set the stage for our procession. Mil Gracias to our Altar creator, Celestino, whose vision & labor of love was unveiled last night & awed everyone who was able to lay eyes on it so much so that many were moved to tears when presenting their ofrenda.
To our compadres in Skinz N Bonez whose rendition of Cielito Lindo moved the procession from a solemn moment to celebration of life. To Bloco Jacare & Tamojunto for guiding our procession & welcoming the spirits in St Roch to our event with their music. To Krewe of Red Beans for their undying support & beautiful gift of the House Float. To the Bvlbancha Collective for joining us with their intertribal altar honoring children lost too soon & reminding us the importance of indigenous roots. To Catalina & all the performers who post procession sprinkled more culture through their song & dance. To the Mexican Consulate in New Orleans for their generosity to our Krewe. To the 30+ volunteers who assisted with set up to breakdown & everything in between, we would not have been able to even leave the start without you. And lastly to those who couldn’t be with us last night but sent well wishes, bought Krewe swag, and shared our posts on social media, muchisimas Gracias!!!
With love, gratitude, y abrazos….Krewe De Mayahuel
