Success breeds success
What does Deutsche Telekom, a global technology and service leader, look for in Israel? Innovation, the healthy hi-tech ecosystem in Israel is comprised of over 6,000 companies with about 1,000 new companies being created every year. Attitude, there is no time to wait, if you try (and you may fail) you can succeed. Deutsche Telekom’s active engagement in Israel spans back t
o the early 2000s. The small, highly motivated, and results driven local team currently focuses on research (T-Labs Ben Gurion University), early engagement and investment (hub:raum), growth stage and mature company partnering (Group Partnering and Business Development), and growth stage investment (Deutsche Telekom Capital Partners). T-Labs BGU – was established in 2004 as a conduit between DT experts and leading scientists to translate their future visions of information technology and telecommunications into reality. The lab excels in security, analytics, and applied machine learning. Some examples of recent projects run are the Virtual Security Officer that automates security and security governance for small and medium businesses and XDR synthesized data that will enable DT to simulate customer behavior and provide personalization without infringing on privacy. http://tlabs.bgu.ac.il
Hub:raum – expanded beyond Krakow and Berlin to Israel in 2014 and has become an active player in the early stage ecosystem. In addition to having invested in two seed stage companies, hub:raum is actively engaged with forward looking activities, such as the NB-IoT (Narrowband Internet of Things) prototyping hub run together with the M2M division where 7 of the 24 participants were sourced from Israel. The prototyping hub provided DT with value insights on IoT services ahead of the pan-EU rollout of NB-IoT that started this year. www.hubraum.com
