BREAKING NEWS!!! Moon has been sighted for Dhul Hijjah ☪️

🌙 The moon was sighted meaning the first of Dhul Hijjah 1444 will correspespond to 19 June 2023

🕌 Eid ul Adha will therefore be on Wednesday 28 June 2023

🕋 The Prophet ﷺ said: "There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days" (Sahih al Bukhari)

🗣️ It is sunnah to recite the following throughout these days:
الله أكبر ، الله أكبر ، لا إله إلا الله ، والله أكبر ، الله أكبر ، ولله الحمد

🐏 Those offering Qurbani must now refrain from cutting nails and hair: The Prophet ﷺ said: "When you see the new moon of Dhul-Hijjah, if any one of you wants to offer a sacrifice, then he should stop cutting his hair and nails until he has offered his sacrifice." (Sahih Muslim)

***Sha'baan announcement***

The new moon was sighted last night in Tumair, Saudi Arabia. This makes today, Tuesday 21st February, the 1st of Sha'baan 1444.

Attemps to sight the new moon of Ramadan will be made on 29 Sha'baan corresponding to 21 March.

The legal date (for official documents and courts) runs independently of moon sightings and always has. This states 30 days for Sha'baan and should not be confused, as previous years by those who did not know what this date means, as a date being set without a moon sighting as per the Sunnah.

Sha'baan comes from the word Sha'aba, meaning "branches out" or "emerges", as it is between Rajab and Ramadan.

A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, said:

“The Messenger ﷺ used to fast until we thought he would never break his fast, and not fast until we thought he would never fast. I never saw the Messenger of Allah fasting for an entire month except in Ramadhan, and I never saw him fast more than he did in Sha'ban.”

(Reported by Al-Bukhari, no. 1833; Muslim, no. 1956).

BREAKING NEWS: HAJJ CANCELLED FOR ALL INTERNATIONAL PILGRIMS

Due to the continuing spread of Covid-19 and concerning developments with the new strain, Hajj has been limited to people within Saudi Arabia only.

Such steps are designed to protect pilgrims visiting the House of Allah. 60,000 people will be allowed from inside Saudi Arabia, including citizens and residents.

New rules were announced around Hajj. A total of 60,000 people (2% of original numbers) will be allowed on Hajj. Hujjaj must be between 18-60 years old, in good health, and have been vaccinated with both vaccine doses. 3 days quarantine will be required upon entering Saudi Arabia.

Today it was announced that from 30th May 2021 Saudi Arabia will allow entry of travelers from the UAE, Germany, US, Ireland, Italy, UK, Portugal, France, Japan, Switzerland and Sweden (non-hajj related)

It has NOT yet been announced how many hujjaj will be allowed from the UK or what the process is. The number is likely to be low. As we get this information we will share it with you in shaa Allah.

BREAKING: Hajj will go ahead this year with strict conditions to ensure the health and safety of pilgrims.

Details of which countries and what steps are introduced are to follow in the coming days.

BREAKING NEWS: The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah will grant Umrah and visit permits to the Two Holy Mosques to vaccinated people only starting from Ramadan.

Access will only be allowed for immune people who have either
• Received atleast one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine and 14 days have passed
• Contracted and recovered from COVID-19 in the last 6 months

UK pilgrims will not be allowed due to restrictions from the UK government, the earliest possible date which they can be lifted for travel is 17 May - if the coronavirus situation allows it - by which time Ramadan will be over.

Nothing has yet been finalised or decided regarding Hajj.
