Warthogs might look tough with their tusks and wrinkled faces, but they’re actually fascinating creatures with some pretty unique behaviors.

Found across Tanzania, these pig-like animals are highly adaptable, thriving in grasslands and savannas.

Warthogs are excellent diggers, using their sharp tusks to dig for food like roots, grasses, and even tree bark. They’re also very social, often seen in small groups and living in burrows abandoned by other animals. And despite their tough appearance, warthogs are surprisingly agile and fast when needed, capable of running at speeds up to 30 mph!

Happy National Hippo Day! 🦛

These incredible creatures may seem calm and peaceful, but beneath the surface, they are powerful symbols of strength and resilience.

Hippos spend most of their time submerged in water, keeping cool in the heat, yet they are surprisingly fast on land.

Known for their territorial nature, they are considered one of the most dangerous animals in Africa.

They also play a crucial role in maintaining the balance of river ecosystems. Their grazing habits help control vegetation along riverbanks, preventing overgrowth that could otherwise disrupt the flow of water and alter the habitat for other animals.

As they spend a lot of time submerged, hippos also contribute to nutrient cycling by excreting large amounts of nutrient-rich waste into the water, which helps fertilize aquatic plants.

This, in turn, supports the food web, benefiting everything from tiny fish to large predators.

Join us on safari and learn more about this cornerstone species!

Right now, in the southern plains of the Serengeti ecosystem, the calving season is in full swing!

From January to March, thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and other ungulates are welcoming their new calves into the world.
With the rains bringing an abundance of fresh grass, it’s the perfect time for newborns to get a strong start.

Wildebeest calves are born after an 8-9 month pregnancy and are up on their feet within minutes, ready to join the herd.

This seasonal explosion of life brings a mix of excitement and danger, as predators aren’t far behind.

Come and experience the wonder of new life!

Buffalo calves are some of the most heartwarming sights in Tanzania’s wild.

Their oversized ears, wobbly first steps and playful energy make them impossible not to love, as they grow and learn within the safety of their herd.

Buffalo calves are born after about 11-12 months, ensuring they’re strong and ready to face the challenges of the wild. Mothers typically give birth during the rainy season when food and water are plentiful, giving the calves the best start in life.

These little ones can stand and walk within minutes of being born, which is crucial for keeping up with the herd that provides protection. Their early days are full of challenges, but with the herd’s care, they grow into one of the savanna’s most resilient and iconic animals - one of the Big Five!

Spotting a striped hyena is hitting nature’s jackpot - they’re incredibly rare to spot!

Hyenas are the underrated legends of the wild. They’re like nature’s cleanup crew, keeping ecosystems healthy by scavenging and ensuring nothing goes to waste.

Living in rugged, remote areas and mostly active at night, they’re true survivors and their black-and-white stripes and cool mohawk-like mane make them as unique as they are vital to Africa’s wild beauty.

Don't miss out on the experience of a lifetime! Reserve your spot on our safari now and be part of nature's grand spectacle.
