It should be no surprise that Dark Universe will be my new home when Epic Universe opens up next year. Bring be to my monsters. Seriously.
Universal released information yesterday about the 4th Epic Universe land. I’ve been asking for a horror land from any theme park for years and now I’m getting it!
There will be 2 attractions:
🐺 Curse of the Werewolf - a FAMILY-FRIENDLY spinning rollercoaster where you have the curse! You’ll board your wagon and race through, dodging werewolves before transforming into one yourself!
🏰 Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment - a dark ride with brand new technology that brings you into Dr. Victoria Frankenstein’s, granddaughter of Dr. Victor Frankenstein, castle to see what experiments she’s been up to!
We will be graced with 2 restaurants and 1 snack venue:
🧛♂️ Das Stakehaus - vampire-themed restaurant with steaks on stakes
🔥 The Burning Blade Tavern - a restaurant serving burgers, brats, and beverages inside of the iconic burning windmill! (This will ACTUALLY catch fire every 20 minutes!)
🍦 De Lacey’s Cottage - located near Frankenstein Manor with cinnamon bread, ice cream, and TWISTED TATORS!
You’ll also be able to meet Universal Monsters AND be turned into a Monster yourself at the Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience!

Meeting Blue at the Raptor Encounter in Jurassic Park can be intense for those of us who don’t like a good jump scare… if you have a little one who might be hesitant to meet Blue but still loves dinosaurs, check out the Baby Raptor meets throughout the day! Sierra and Tango are 6-month-old hatchlings that meet in the same location as Blue! This little meet and greet just may melt your heart ❤️
My Little Pixie met Tango when she was 2 years old and absolutely loved it! The air is definitely less HHN vibes and Tango was so precious. Baby Raptors typically meet in between Blue’s meets, so make sure to check your app for the schedule!

Did someone say Halfway to Halloween? You mean less than 4 months until Halloween Horror Nights, right?
When I was in my teens and early twenties, there wouldn’t be a year that I skipped The 13th Gate in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I’d be there getting the pants scared off of me, stubbing my toe because I was dumb and wore sandals, and running from men with chainsaws, multiple times a season.
Somewhere in my adulthood, I lost the want to be scared at any haunted house. Halloween Horror Nights sounded like my true nightmare and you wouldn’t have caught me there if you paid me. Then of course, for research, I had to go when I moved to Orlando.
I started off really slow, going in 2 houses and closing my eyes the entire time. The next year, I was ready to open my eyes in at least one house… then I opened them in another. Then I remembered how much I LOVED haunted houses!
Now I try to recruit everyone to go to Halloween Horror nights. It’s literally the best event of the year put on by the best makeup artist and set builders! There are ways you can bypass being lunged at, don’t worry, but if you don’t go, you’ll miss the awesome-ness of it all!
