Harry Potter Fans might remember this location from the original movie. It was the entrance to the magical world of Gringotts Bank. See many locations from the movies on a visit to London this year…but we can’t go inside here anymore. Too dangerous, it’s infested with goblins!

It’s certainly not true that all Kings and Queens were universally respected. One of the least popular, a man who couldn’t be trusted to keep his word for five minutes, was King John who signed Magna Carta in 1215 at Runnymede near Windsor after a revolt from his Barons and then shortly after decided not to honour it. This did not end well for him. Dysentery is the most likely cause of death but rumours abounded including poisoning and the unlikely but comic ‘surfeit of peaches’.

The first English terrestrial globe made in 1592 possibly a gift from Sir Walter Raleigh to Henry Percy ‘The Wizard Earl’, 9th Earl of Northumberland. It can be found at Petworth House, West Sussex along with a stunning art collection including a Bosch, Van D***s and several Turners. And then there’s the landscape garden…

The Chalice Well is the location in Christian myth where Joseph of Arimathea hid the chalice used to catch some of Christ’s blood at his crucifixion - The Holy Grail. The water here runs red and never fails. Just one of the many legends associated with the magical areas around Glastonbury in Somerset, England.
