Sometimes I am tumbling through lands afar.
Through distant waters I have dived deep.
Over the largest mountains whose silence I have sat
and taken in.

Nations that think they are exceptional yet
remain backward in their greed and conquest I have lived
to find them lacking compared to the morning lands of the east.

The cornucopia of life calls to all
and fortunate am I to have sampled some of the
infinity of our beautiful blue ball we call home!

Without travel we can never make any measured insights
on culture, creed or race.

If you get chance TRAVEL.......!

Moving up.

Moving up the mountain I can see the hairpins above me and the crazy small red buses that cut the corners making it so hazardous for new riders here. Over half a year since I had my crash and I can let go more and enjoy the freedom of the long turns alternating with the sharp cut backs. I ease passed small tourists, two up, on underpowered scooters taking it easy on the inside of the lane. They wear p**s pot helmets that offer no protection and always have iphones out to get directions, as if the road has any other direction than up.

As I ride higher the temperatures fall and the foliage changes from the hot noisy jungle to a less verbose, more european smelling dense green. Unlike europe, the trees here blanket the mountain to the peak making it a humid place but still much cooler than at the base.

After twenty minutes I am at the peak and the silence and cold,(10C cooler than the sweaty 35 at the bottom,) engulf me and I can sit down under the canopy and relax under natures natural ac.

I have loved mountains all my life. They have given me a chance to understand my small place in the world and come to terms with how fast it can all change. I can understand how the locals have come to revere them, worship them in the himalaya and this holy mountain, Doi Suthep, has so many holy facets that I have explored that even the locals know nothing of.

But its the peak and the silence that offers the holiness to me.

At the high altitudes of the Himalaya cannot spend long, but here in Thailand where the altitude is not nearly as high we can come and spend time. Removed from the modern tuk tuk madness that is below in the valley I can find peace and consider how we all need mountains, even for a small time, to show us our place in life and the world.

Dear Friends,

My first ebook is now available (free) to download.

https://www.facebook.com/11dollarsfromdeathbook

Many of you may have known that just over 6 months ago I had
a very serious motobike accident. With little to do but
sit and let my body heal I wrote a collection of notes to
connect with my friends online. I received a wonderful response
and it was a real help to my healing.

I recently re edited the notes, added
more observations and now wanted to share the ebook to all.

I am very open to all your thoughts and insights.

The idea is to get the words and the book out to all
my friends and all others that I don't know.

Please share with all that you feel can benefit from
an anecdotal and humorous look at life's challenges.

There is also a dedicated webpage that I designed for the book.
It contains a sample chapter, download links and further goodies
about the book:

Many moons in younger days seeking meaning living on remote beaches around the globe. Not the answer but a wonderful distraction that I'm happy to be back doing for a little while.

If you want to get more out of life, you must lose your inclination for monotonous security and adopt a helter-skelter style of life that will at first appear to you to be crazy. But once you become accustomed to such a life you will see its full meaning and its incredible beauty.” ― Jon Krakauer
