On this day in 2017, due to a mandatory evacuation order in Miami Beach, we closed the doors of The Raleigh Hotel for the first time since its opening in 1940—just two day before Hurricane Irma struck Miami. It was my first time closing a property as GM, a true Art Deco gem that withstood decades of Miami’s history. The Raleigh’s legacy will live on, as the iconic 77-year-old hotel is now being reimagined as part of a $2 billion project led by , with designs by and my friend and Miami’s own . Excited to see this grand dame return as a and Residence.

Pic 1 is of the iconic pool at The Raleigh, known for its stunning curvaceous design by L. Murray Dixon in the 1940s, making it one of the most photographed pools in the world.
