«These people welcomed me into their homes. They fed me. The dressed me up in their fanciest clothes and taught me their dances and songs. They put up with my pitiful handful of words in Nepali and we found ways to laugh with each other through body language and FB messenger filters. I’ve been gone almost a year but they’ll still devote precious pre-paid phone data to send me a photo and ask how I’m doing and when I’m coming back to visit.
And right now, they’re hurting. Scared AF. Nepal’s borders are closed and the country is in lockdown. The tourism industry evaporated overnight, and with it the livelihood of millions of people...sounds familiar, right? But while most of us here say we have “omg, like, NO food in the fridge” when there’s actually a bunch of stuff we just don’t feel like or that requires actually cooking....my friends actually have no food. Or a fridge. There’s no Costco in Gre village. (There’s not even a supermarket.) No savings accounts. (Just bank loans from rebuilding their houses after the 2015 earthquake.)
What they do have are mouths to feed. Nima and Dahlia welcomed another daughter last month. A 14 year old just gave birth too. And all the older kids who have to go away to boarding school (since the village school doesn’t go past 2nd grade) are back home.
What they *also* have is a very favorable exchange rate that means you can chip in a very dinky amount of money ($10) in USD and it will magically become food to feed many mouths for many meals in NRP. I bought a 5 lb bag of rice at Fred Meyer yesterday and it was $12. Meanwhile a 10lb bag of rice (double) is only $2.25 in Nepal!»

Recently I got opportunity to lead group for trek in Annapurna region from Team.
This trip was little challenging for everyone because of heavy snow storm and uncertain weather😱 But together with team we made decision to go through snow no matter what! Mountains calling!🏔
For me, most challenging day was after Bayali - opening trails towards Chistibung (Dhankharka).
I personally really love our trekking itinerary which covers really nice and amazing typical Gurung Village (Ghandruk), beautiful view point Isharu, Khopra Ridge, Poonhil viewpoint.
This adventure became on of my favourite that I was guiding! I feel like we became real family with team.
Cheers,

Laligurans is the Nepali variation of the rhododendron flower and is the national flower of Nepal🇳🇵
We choose March for trekking, because it was one of the our wishes - to see Laligurans blossoming 😍
While rhododendrons can be found all over the world, Nepali laligurans are unique for their immense size and distribution all across the Himalayan foothills.
Laligurans can grow up to 30m tall and will often cover entire mountainsides with its flowers when it blooms from late February to April 🤓

Don't think about it. Just enjoy it.

Our fave Cuban ingredient is its vibe ☀🎉 Friendly people chatting you up on the street, blasting music 🎶, drumming out salsa rhythm - THAT part of Cuba will always stay with you.

WE are EXTENDING our March program in Nepal to include SERVICE LEARNING in an ethnic village.
WHAT IS SERVICE LEARNING? I think Wiki nailed it: it’s an educational approach that combines learning objectives with community service in order to provide a pragmatic, progressive learning experience while meeting societal needs.
Basically it’s a shift from volunteering’s “let me save the world” to “let me learn as I serve you”. So we are starting a SL program in Gre village where we’ve been helping with to establish cultural homestays.
The program will be tailored to each group, and will include English classes for kids and adults, art classes/ games w kids, setting up social entrepreneurship basics in the village, workshops on hygiene etc. You can learn Nepali, taking care of crops, craft making, local dance, will learn about community issues at the community gathering etc.
Join! March 23-28 (just Gre)
May 5-17 Gre + hiking Langtang.
Info on the website, link in bio.
Also you can requests dates and program that suits you and your friends!

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL MOUNTAIN DAY! Come with us to the mountains in March to explore nature and yourselves 🔥🏔 They say that 🧚♀️ - have you heard?:) They also say, people who hike have higher brain capacities 🧠😎 and also new neuron connections form in the mountains sooooo you’re more likely to get some breakthroughs/ revelation and what not.
Another successful accent to the Kyangin Ri mountain in Langtang region, Nepal. It’s not the “making it there” that ultimately matters, but the journey itself, the people... and well those views! Snow covered peaks, fluffy yaks and silence ⛰🤫 Come join us in March for another gorgeous trip, to hear silence ring and your friends laugh :)
Friday was World Tourism Day. There’re are a lot of articles on the internet about tourists vs travelers, exploiters vs explorers... While this is all mostly semantics and individual choice.. I still can’t stress enough, how much more fun authentic/ immersive travel is! Sometimes it’s best to skip a world known landmark and crash a wedding or just chill with locals, see what they do/ how they do..
•
My never ending Nepali adventure started when I met a Nepali girl on a packed bus (after hanging outside the bus door, since it was so crowded). We started talking and she suddenly invited me to her sisters wedding.
•
I know, not everyone has time to go for long trips and hope for a lucky chance... so now I’m passionate about inspiring and enabling people to travel more immersively, going for more authentic/ local adventures.
•
So I’m super excited about our upcoming trip to Nepal (oct 27-nov10), we will get to celebrate local festival aaand go to a Himalayan ethnic village and stay in their homestays. And hike ⛰ of course:) All are welcome to join!!

During our first Adventure Travelz trip to Nepal🇳🇵 we were hiking in Langtang area and first night we stayed in Gre villlage - small ethnic village in the Himalayas. It’s still fairly heavily destroyed after the 2015 earthquake. But we were so touched by the cheerfulness and hospitality of our hosts and all villagers! So we started a volunteering project in the village, supporting establishing of sustainable tourism practices in Gre, ie community homestays. The program is taking place right now! Please check our Girls Empowered by Travel-Nepal feed to learn more about what we r doing! And join our hike in OCTOBER ☺️
Not all travels are the same. Sometimes I imagine you just want to lay on the 🏝, maybe sip 🍹 and do nothing. Other travels are more intentional, involved, challenging, in depth and require thought/ preparation etc.
I’m inviting you for one of those deep, intentional and authentic adventures. To Nepal 🇳🇵 🙏☺️
These are dry color paints used by Nepali in many traditional holidays. Join me and my magical fam for TIHAR - FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS in October, we will be painting colorful mandalas, celebrating local deities, animals and family 🙏👨👩👦👦
Also join us for HOLI - FESTIVAL OF COLORS in March 2020. Holi symbolizes victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, time to play, laugh, get together, forget and forgive and celebrate! Why not throw paint at each other and thousands of strangers to celebrate?
Let’s add color to our lives!

Nepal, a landlocked country, has tremendous geographic diversity. As per the 2011 census, Nepal is rich for 126 castes and ethnic groups.
They have distinct cultures, languages and traditions...Is there fun to read?
You can find these different definitions of Nepal in Google but let's make "once in lifetime experience" by joining us on March 17-31, 2019.
Let's experience in real what all these words mean? Let's feel and indulge into their cultures.
The opportunity knocks once at a time.
We have different plans and unbelievable surprises to make your every moment memorable and joyful.

Few years ago we started Girls Empowered by Travel-Nepal - an initiative aimed to make travel more accessible to girls and women in lesser developed countries; and also to promote travel as an empowerment and educational tool🌎📚😎. We started in Nepal 🇳🇵 and my heart stayed there ❤️
After a few years of this non-profit work I decided to also start Adventure Travelz 💫 to bring you tailored * unusual * fully immersive* and extremely fun experiences. That transform you and positively impact local communities. 🧚♀️
Now I’m creating adventures in magical Nepal, but more destinations are coming: Ecuador, Cuba, Europe.
I’m based in New York City 🌃 🗽 - which is an adventure of its own ☺️ I’m trying to discipline and structure my life, but it’s not really happening 😂 I’d like be to be more consistent with my hobbies, like filmmaking, droning, dancing, music, writing/ storytelling.
Completely forgot to mention that I actually have a day job 😂 I’m an interpreter! So love for words/ languages/ cultures is deeply rooted in maaa head and heart!
I’m inviting you to join our adventures! It’s gonna be special, I guarantee that!!

One of the pillars of Adventure Travelz is to positively IMPACT LOCAL COMMUNITIES that we get in touch with. During our first trip we stayed at a beautiful ethnic village Gre.
The village was destroyed in 2015 by the earthquake, and most villagers still stay at temporary shelters and despite an amazing location, rich culture and so many other things the village has to offer, tourism - as a reliable source of income - is practically non-existent.
Together with Girls Empowered by Travel-Nepal we are starting a volunteering program to help rebuild Gre and put it on the map. This video was made during the evaluation trip in preparation of the volunteering program.
Please take a look - isn't it stunning?? Join our next adventures to visit Gre and also take a look at the volunteering program - we;d love you to join too!

Starting our video reporting from our awesome Indigenous Trails hike in Langtang National Park in Nepal 🇳🇵 ⛰ ☺️ First night we spent in a small indigenous Tamang village of Gre. Tamang is a unique ethnicity of Nepali people living in Langtang area in the Himalayas. Langtang area was heavily affected by the earthquake on April 25, 2015. A lot of Gre village was destroyed. People still live in temporary shelters, with plastic in place of glass windows. Slooooowly rebuilding. Our amazing host Neema wants to open a homestay “Four Sisters” (he has four daughters) - in fact our stay marked the opening of the homestay. What stories don’t you hear when you hike the mountains in Nepal! This is Sangita Acharya, 17 year’s old. We met her on our way to the Lwang village, 1,885m, in Annapurna region in Himalayas. She’s in 12th grade and walks in the mountains ⛰ for an hour every day to reach school! She says: ‘I'm afraid to walk this way, but I work hard to fulfill my dream (of becoming a teacher). I'm the only one from my village friends studying in grade 12’. Now that’s impressive! We hope she fulfills her dreams! Monday perspective check: not all of us had to hike mountains for an hour one way, alone and scared, to go school! #dreams #education #internationalyouthday2018 #himalayas #hiking #trekking #annapurna #непал #аннапурна #nepal #annapurna
DID YOU KNOW BUDDHA WAS BORN IN NEPAL🇳🇵?! (Непал - родина Будды) This is Lumbini, the exact place where it is said his mother Queen Mayadevi gave birth to Siddhartha Gautama. You see the pond? That’s where she took a bath before his birth and that’s where he got his first bath as well. And the 🌳 - everyone’s walking around it, paying tribute! It’s called Bodhi Tree. Under such tree Siddhartha sat when he achieved enlightenment. But that was in India. On one of our trips we will visit this place! #nepal #lumbini #buddha #buddhism #siddhartha #gautama #enlightenment #bodhi #mayadevi #adventure #travel #instatravel #backpacking #непал #лумбини
