As Pride Month continues, we’d like to take a moment to remember the 49 lives lost and the 53 injured at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida on 12 June 2016.

This February, during our staff retreat, we had the honor of visiting the Pulse Memorial Labyrinth in Colonialtown Square Park, guided by LGBT+ Center Orlando - The Center. It was a deeply moving experience that helped us strengthen our connection with the community and share in a common, collective grief.

We stand with the LGBTQ+ community in honoring their memory and celebrating the spirit of resilience and love. Let's continue to advocate for a world where everyone feels safe and welcome.

Last week, we held our Global Partner Summit in Miami! 🦩🌴

This gathering brought together industry leaders from the IGLTA network for discussions on key issues impacting the LGBTQ+ travel community. A think tank explored critical topics (details to come!), and a lively networking reception at the Biltmore Hotel Miami Coral Gables gave IGLTA members, guests, and partners the opportunity to connect.

We were thrilled to participate in the event "LGBTQIA+ Inclusion and Sustainable Development. The Italian, European and U.S. Framework!" in Rome last week. 🇮🇹

Our very own Joel Alexander Díaz Barros, Regional Membership Manager for Europe, participated in a stimulating and insightful discussion alongside other industry leaders.

It was a fantastic opportunity to delve into the latest economic report by Associazione EDGE with Think Tank Tortuga, and to learn more about the impactful initiatives of EDGE and EGLCC - The European LGBTIQ Chamber of Commerce.

Help the People of Rio Grande do Sul 🩷🫂

Devastating floods have swept through Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, causing unprecedented destruction. This calamity, described by local authorities as the worst natural disaster in the state's history, has resulted in the loss of lives, the destruction of homes, and the displacement of entire communities.

In response, BrazilFoundation has launched the Rio Grande do Sul Humanitarian Campaign. Through the Luz Alliance Fund, they are raising funds to provide immediate relief and support long-term rebuilding efforts. We stand with our members in Brazil during this difficult time and encourage everyone to join us in supporting relief efforts.

Managing or concealing one's identity is a common tactic among LGBTQ+ people as a form of personal protection.

LGBTQ+ travelers often face the dilemma of whether to express their identity openly or conceal it to avoid potential discrimination or hostility.

This decision can significantly impact their travel experiences, influencing where they choose to go and how comfortable they feel while there.

But what about when discrimination isn't so obvious? 🤔

Discrimination can manifest in both overt and subtle ways, and while some instances may be openly hostile, others may be more nuanced.

Subtle discrimination toward LGBTQ+ travelers (such as avoiding eye contact or more overt behaviors like slight rudeness or indifference), while less noticeable, can have a significant impact, ranging from minor discomfort to self-exclusion from certain activities or spaces. �

Understanding trans identities at Accor Group’s 🏳️‍⚧️

Last Thursday, we joined Accor, a valued Platinum-level IGLTA Global Partner, for a meaningful roundtable exploring trans and non-binary identities.

Our very own Nicolò Manfredini (he/him) participated alongside panelists Inès Duckit (she/her) and Danny Riordan (they/he), moderated by Nicolas Pirat-Delbrayelle (he/him) from TÊTU•connect.

Held just days after Transgender Day of Visibility, this discussion highlighted the diverse and interconnected experiences within the transgender community. Personal stories provided valuable insights, sparking conversations about creating safer and more inclusive spaces for all. 🩷🏳️‍⚧️
