A huge male elephant in Musth was walking on the track and was in search of a female elephant mostly and we were a slight distance away from him.
Almost 6 to 7 years ago was this.

The wonderful start of the first safari of the first day of the new year 2024, 4 tigers gave us the darshan and we were 3 or 4 vehicles only. Almost the entire time of the safari we did stay and take a look at these beauties.

An early sighting which will be there in memory for a long time and will remain the fastest sighting ever in my Jungle journeys :)
A male tiger which was born post I stopped coming to Dhikala and has grown huge and will grow even more. He has been brave seeing the vehicles in front of him and we all need to give a space for him to walk. Yes he will give a good pose for all.

An Unique bond has formed between this sub adult cub and 2 other cubs and both have different mothers.
He has left his mom and is living with his aunt and her cubs.
Nature has some amazing things to offer and we humans think that we know everything about every thing :)
Time and again we are proved wrong by mother nature.

The early bird catches the worm ! in our case the early entrant see's the tiger :)
True in most of the cases, we did get to see the striped beauty as we were one of the early entrants to the forest.
The expert positioning of the vehicle from our driver was the reason that we were able to get the pics :)

Tiger on the move !!
Always exciting to see a tiger in your very first safari. You feel satisfied seeing the stripes after a bit of tracking.

Growing up to be tigers !!! their mom who was in a fight with another tigress is recovering from her injuries . The cubs are so obedient that they are in the same place where their mom left them almost a week ago !! Obedience it is.

Every step is treacherous in the jungle, even more so if there is fog all around and the visibility is almost nil and dangerous.. One step in the wrong direction and you are history .....
This was around 8 AM and by mid day the sun did appear from behind the dense fog dispersing it.

A very low light image due to the tall canopy and also being winter, the light fades quickly.
The female was on a round of her territory and we were really lucky that she did grace us with her presence.

One of the most thrilling experiences is when a calm and composed elephant is walking towards you , even thrilling if a calf is accompanying her.
This female was as cool as the Corbett winter :)

Corbett offers many more photographing opportunities than many other forests in my opinion.
Elephants are plenty and once the summer gets heated up , the vast chours of Dhikala will be filled with these gentle giants. What a sight to behold hundreds of these and many herds crossing the meandering Ramganga river at sunrise and sunset.
The grasslands and the river crossing does provide fantastic opportunities to all the photographers who would be there.
Of course the striped beauty would be number one on everyone's wishlist :)

We did wait a long time before the male decieded that it was enough staying inside the bushes and did cross over to the other side.
He looks a calm and composed guy :)

The meandering Ramganga in the back ground, the exposed river bank, the dried up lantanna ( after being cut ) and of course the onlookers waiting for a glimpse of the striped beauty.
A magical and mystical place is Corbett.
The daughter of the famous Paro is now the ruler of this area and she did not disappoint in giving a show to the gathered onlookers.

Sightings like these donot come even in our remote dreams.
After entering the forest from the campus within 30 seconds we did sight this handsome male , as it was dark, we did get a glimpse of him sitting on the side of the track.
He did move to the bushes as he saw us, but once we gave him space , he became comfortable and did give us some good photo opportunities.

Yes, there is a Tiger in the frame.
One of my dreams to photograph a tiger in the arched canopy of sal trees of Corbett finally materialised this visit.
Kamar Patta !!! roughly translates to Waist line :)
2 safaris we were frustrated seeing only fresh pug marks of a male and female going up the road and back, but no tigers.
On this afternoon safari , our expert guide and driver did track the movement and the exact road where we may get the striped beauty head on was a master stroke.
She did come out on the road and the next 15 minutes was pure bliss. No vehicles in the back ground, no jam of gypsies. 4 vehicles only and we did give ample space to the tiger to do the ramp walk.
Corbett is pure bliss.

One more reason why Corbett is "Magical"
Entering the forest from the Dhikala campus at 6.45 AM and within 30 seconds sighting a tiger in made up of wild dreams.
I have always wanted to sight one on the entry road to the campus and it got fulfilled this time.
It was pitch dark when we sighted this male and we did give him ample distance and time to come out on the road.
The light was low and the fog was around. the fog helped us a lot that no vehicles spotted us. we were alone for quite some time.
Overall a good sighting.
