530 counted is (in my humble option) a damn good figure for August - we have to remember that the largest number ever counted in 55 years of counting was - 1500 whales in 2018 -- last year was about 1300 - that is from Nature's Valley to - whereas these figures in the graph are over a much shorter distance of to

Nature is SO incredible – as the last few weeks in Hermanus have shown us – with huge pods of Dolphins and Bryde’s Whales feasting on massive bait–balls of small fish ( and ) – Hammerhead shark spotted on a boat trip, as well as, an Elephant Seal re–visiting the beach at Onrus (after a 10 year vacation) – he is lovingly named “Buffel”, but please keep your distance as he is faster than you think and is huge / very heavy too – and we don’t want you being crushed to death by a seal, now do we, certainly not … – – amazing photos courtesy of – Martin Etsebeth / Lucia Lilleen du Preez / Sonja Fleck / Johan Greyling
