3 things I learned on a farm
1. Within a 15 mile radius of my suburban house lies several Regenerative Farms; Farms that operate holistically allowing natural, organic processes to rehabilitate the land which ultimately enhances the food that is produced.
2. The farmers… are my age! 30-something year olds with little to no background in farming, just a love and passion for the environment, their communities and contributing to something greater than themselves.
3. They’d love your involvement, and there’s many way to contribute! From donating your food scraps {food in a landfill rots and produces methane gas} the .farm will collect your compost in exchange for produce. farms has a CSA (Community Support Agriculture) program which enables you to invest in their farm in exchange for the seasons harvest. The .farm has an education program that goes into schools and teaches children about regenerative farming. You can support them by joining one of their “Farm Hop” bus tours!
Why was I on a farm?
has curated a weekly series “Yoga Outside and Farm Spotlight.”Each week she partners with and features local farms. Caitlin invited me to co-teach and now, it’s all I can think about. It was a privilege and such a powerful experience for me.
