🥾 If you were depressed about the Hoh River road being closed after it washed out this winter, I have good news.

🏞️ In a rare moment of saying something other than he is raising taxes, Bob Ferfuson has announced that the Hoh River and, in turn, the Hoh Forest trails will be open again as of May 8th.

So now you can go cram yourself in with all the tourists to see the mossy trees.

A personal locator beacon is the ONE piece of equipment that I never want to see anyone hiking without. Yes, you really should have all the essentials too, but a PLB is the one item that if things go south and you are lost or in real trouble, can/will save your life.

When things go wrong on a hike or backpacking trip, they go wrong fast. If you can't self-rescue and are out of cell phone range, a personal locator beacon may mean the literal difference between life or death.
