Our Christmas tree gained its fifth customised bauble this year & this year, the video gets a little longer. Making this video every year brings tears to my eyes. I am so grateful for all the goodness in our lives.
I am also very glad we started this Christmas tradition in our home. We are happy to have something else the children can keep in time, knowing that we loved them and did everything to give them the best lives possible.

Made cinammon and raisin bagels today 🥯
Was my first time ever making bagels, and I think I can safely say... that I nailed it!
I used @anitalianinmykitchen's recipe, but I used real vanilla from vanilla pods, more honey, more cinammon and more raisins, soaked the raisins for longer to make sure they were really soft and would incorporate well into the dough, and instead of making the dough into long shapes and joining the ends to make the circular bagel shape, I shaped the dough into rolls and used the end of my rolling pin to depress the middles of the rolls to make the middle bagel hole.

Seven Hour Slow Roasted Lamb
Orange & Cranberry Easter lamb 🐑 —>🍽
Inspired by a friend, we’ve taken up blending marinade mixtures that elevate roasted meats to a whole new level!
This marinade was made from a blend containing the juice and pulp of two oranges, four clementines, Maille Dijon mustard, a few cloves of garlic, honey, cinammon, salt, cracked black pepper, garam masala, thyme, rosemary, oregano, basil and butter. To that we added homemade cranberry sauce (made with fresh cranberries and frozen since Christmas).
After pouring it over the lamb leg, we mixed in crumbed pre-baked (and also homemade and frozen since Christmas) cranberry and caramelised red onion stuffing. Then we mixed and slow baked in a covered casserole dish at 100deg Celsius for 7hrs!
Yes you heard that right. Seven whole hours on the ‘moist bake’ setting without once opening the oven. Served up with butter and spice mash and a (courgette, French green beans, red onion, broccoli and yellow pepper) vegetable medley wok-tossed in garlic parsley butter.
Best believe the resulting lamb that fell completely apart in your mouth and the rest of the meal, was worth every single minute of those seven hours - and the hours of prep that preceded it!

Welcome to our second (and very tired) live. We had just moved home the day before yesterday, which was also our first anniversary in 🇫🇷 and so we’ve had everything on apart from sleep (given that we have been doing it all with a seven month old in tow)🥱

Well would you look at progress!
From when we had the old plasterboard knocked out ON EVERY WALL, had the plumbing, electrical wiring and insulation redone IN THE WHOLE HOUSE and now had Raychem intelligent underfloor heating installed.... we’re getting there, one big job at a time!
There’s lots going on upstairs too! But you know, we can’t be giving it away all at once.

What was in our glass? Only the best cider in the world. Because unless you’ve tasted 🇫🇷 cidre from Normandy, you haven’t lived! On fancy occasions when we have guests (before COVID had us toasting solo), we’d put a shot of black currant liquor in the glass before pouring the cider - a combination known as a ‘Kir Normand’🍷😋

Renovations Progress
Work in progress in what will be the open plan living/dining/kitchen of the smaller of the two properties.
If you’ve been following for a while you’ll remember what a nasty shock it was to find out that the previous owner hastily put up fibreglass without even securing it properly, instead of correct wall insulation and so the fibreglass had all pooled to the ground behind the previous plasterboard which in our current temperature of -7deg Celsius is a big giant 🙅🏽♀️🙅🏾♂️
So down it all came and then proper insulation was put in at the same time as all the 35yr+ old electrics were being rewired. And now we’re almost ready to start the painting process which begins next week.
