These folks never stop working to help their community and folks around the world have benefited from their free seeds and stickers programs, on top of all the local work they do putting on free classes, their mutual aid work crew regularly meets up to help people and other orgs with their projects. They do a lot of stuff with no money and just time/labor, but groceries are ridiculously expensive so stocking the fridge is getting beyond their means. Every bit y'all can donate will be used and appreciated. If you're local to south west Miami Dade county holler at them to see how you can get involved with the hands on work. Even if you can't donate or volunteer, a reaction, comment, and share can help boost the visibility of this post.
Still trying to push this. Our members cover the vast majority of costs out of our own pockets, donations only ever make up about 5-10% of our costs at the absolute most, we always spend FAR MORE than we take in from donations, and that was back when we were regularly receiving donations for sticker/T-shirt/ext orders. The costs of groceries has gotten absolutely out of control and the community refrigerators are needed now more than ever. We regularly do drop offs as our crops come in from various farm related organizations, come across big bulk amounts of food, clip coupons, search for BOGO deals, but that rarely covers all the very basic things people need. The regular grocery store runs are for things like peanut butter, bread, flour, eggs, milk, butter, cold cuts, oils, ect. Things you need to prepare other things, that rarely end up in the fridge or pantry. We're VERY good at squeezing every bit of food possible out of every penny, but there's only so much you can do without supplemental funding. We're all just a bunch of burned out and exhausted working class folks who are barely getting buy ourselves, so every little bit counts. Solidarity is the only way we can make things better.
We're also hoping to have our free seeds and stickers list posted by the end of December and start mailing by the first week of January. We know y'all have been waiting a long time for us to get that going again and we appreciate y'all's patience, things have been pretty hectic and we just can't seem to get caught up.
