During our recent General Meeting in Södertälje, Sweden (13-16 November 2024), hosted by Scania, we unveiled the location and program for our upcoming gathering.

Prasanna Patwardhan, CEO of Prasanna Purple | GPN India, presented the exciting plans for GPN’s 2025 General Meeting, which will take place on 26-28 February 2025 in New Delhi, India.

📸 Celebrating the 2024 GPN Drivers Photo Competition!

The second edition of our photo competition was a huge success! GPN drivers from around the globe shared stunning photos of the buses they drive in breathtaking landscapes, showcasing one of the many joys of being a bus driver.

These incredible photos were featured on GPN’s page, where the top three with the most reactions won prizes generously sponsored by GPN Partners:

🌍 Building Resilience Through Education at the 2024 General Meeting!

Education is at the heart of the GPN network, and this year’s General Meeting in Södertälje, Sweden, hosted by Scania, featured a valuable session on Crisis Management, led by Laura Hadzik, Partner at JMW Solicitors LLP.

"Laura provided an excellent presentation on crisis management to the 90+ delegates attending the recent Global Passenger Network conference. 🔋 Exploring the Future of Green Technology at Scania’s Battery Factory!

During our 2024 General Meeting in Södertälje, Sweden, hosted by Scania, GPN members and partners had the incredible opportunity to tour Scania’s brand-new Battery Factory, which opened in fall 2023.

This state-of-the-art facility assembles modular battery modules and packs for Scania’s battery-electric vehicles. The battery cells, sourced from Swedish company Northvolt, make Scania’s batteries among the greenest on the market. 🌿

Participants got an exclusive look at the innovative production process driving sustainable transportation forward.

📸✨ Meet Alan Leht bus driver at Hansabuss | GPN Estonia - The proud 3rd prize winner of GPN's 2024 Drivers Photo Competition, sponsored by First Travel Solution! 🥉🚍

1️⃣ I’ve been a bus driver since 2015, making it 9 wonderful years of exploring the roads and providing safe, enjoyable journeys. 🚍✨

2️⃣ I took up this profession because I wanted to try something new and exciting. I’ve always loved driving and traveling, and I strive to offer the best service possible to my passengers. For me, safety is always the top priority. 🛣️🛡️

3️⃣ The winning photo was taken about half a year ago, in spring, near Aurland, Norway on Road 50 at a beautiful viewpoint. It’s extra special to me because it was the first nature shot with my new bus—a lucky picture indeed! 📸🌿🚐

4️⃣ What do I love most about my job? Everything! From traveling and driving to learning new languages and cultures, I’m always up for new challenges and the thrill of discovering new places. And of course, I enjoy the responsibility that comes with the job. 🌍❤️

5️⃣ I’ve had many heartwarming encounters with passengers, especially during family tours to Rovaniemi. The young kids often draw pictures of me, the bus, and their adventures. Those little artworks mean the world to me and help me relive those special moments. 😊🖍️

1️⃣ My journey as a bus driver began in 2005 with a local transport company in Budapest, and in 2007, I transitioned to driving tour coaches. Every year since has been an adventure on the road! 🚍✨

2️⃣ Although I didn't finish my university studies, I found my calling in driving. I’ve always enjoyed being behind the wheel and connecting with new people, making bus driving the perfect career for me. 🛣️🚍

3️⃣ The winning photo that caught everyone’s attention was taken at the stunning Bøyabreen Glacier during the summer of 2024. It was a breathtaking moment that I knew I had to capture. 📸❄️

4️⃣ What do I love most about my job? Quite simply, everything! The freedom, the travel, the people—it all makes each day unique and fulfilling. 🌍❤️

5️⃣ Throughout my career, I've had the pleasure of staying in touch with some passengers long after our journeys together. It’s always a joy to reconnect with those who have traveled with me before, sharing stories and experiences. It’s these connections that make the job truly special. 🤝🌟

📸✨ Meet Fernando Do Carmo bus driver at frota azul | GPN Portugal - The proud 1st prize winner of GPN's 2024 Drivers Photo Competition, sponsored by Idrive! 🥇🚍

1️⃣ I've been a bus driver since 2012, and I began my journey with Frota Azul in 2015. Every year on the road has added to my love for the open road and exploring new places. 🚍✨

2️⃣ My passion for bus driving began as a child, traveling alongside my father, who is now a retired bus driver. I was captivated by how he skillfully maneuvered the big bus through every route. After my divorce, I chose to follow in his footsteps, turning my admiration into a lifelong career. ❤️🛣️

3️⃣ The winning photo that captured everyone's attention was taken in a charming little village called Prioro, in Northern Spain, while I was on tour in 2023. This beautiful landscape spoke to me, and I had to capture its essence. 📸🏞️

4️⃣ One of the aspects I love most about my job is visiting the same places during different seasons, witnessing the changes in the landscape, and capturing those moments through my camera lens. Every journey is an opportunity to discover and create. 🌿🍁❄️

5️⃣ I've had many heartwarming experiences over the years, but one recent encounter stands out. A guest from a tour group would sketch and paint everywhere we went. One day, he sat beside me while I was driving and quickly created a painting of me, gifting it to me afterward. It was a touching and unforgettable gesture. 🎨🖌️

Winning the GPN photo competition means the world to me, but it's about more than the prize—it's about the incredible support from my family, friends, and colleagues. I pledged to donate the prize to help a fellow driver battling an illness, and the outpouring of support has been overwhelming. I want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who believed in me and shared "my call." Together, we’ve made a difference! 🙏💖
