Like many of you, I'm looking for ways to help those affected by the wine country wildfires. Here's an online auction pulled together by a friend of mine. 100% of proceeds support ag workers through the Sonoma County Winegrowers Fund. It runs through Nov. 3. Lots of great wines, tasting packages and vacations. Worth considering and sharing... https://www.32auctions.com/PrimaAuction

Her influence in the wine industry, like her late husband's, goes far beyond the Napa Valley. We've lost a pioneer who gracefully wove art and culture into the wine scene.

Not ashamed to admit that this rare 1940s MobileGlide Globetrotter, artfully rebuilt from the frame over a period of 14 months by Doug in Placerville, made my heart flutter a bit. Even the screen door shows amazing craftsmanship.

Here are some ideas for wine tasting on your way to CA's national parks. But it's a stretch to consider Lodi as a stop on your route to Tahoe. Closer to the mountains: El Dorado, Nevada or Placer wine regions.

So many people in two beautiful "backroads" wine regions in Northern California were hit hard by devastating fires. It's heartwarming to see the efforts of so many, including wineries, to help those in need.

California firefighters appear to have turned a corner in stopping the destructive fires in Lake County and Calaveras County. The state’s fire agency, CalFire, reported Tuesday that both blazes were 75 to 80 percent contained. Most evacuation orders have been lifted, and residents have returned to s…

I love this! Stay in an Airstream along California's coast, and explore nearby wineries and breweries. And in the Sierra Foothills, there's an opportunity along the American River, where cute little Coloma Resort offers vintage Airstream rentals artfully outfitted by our sweet friend, Kristiana & Silver Trailerl

If you could step back in time, it looks like 1958 was a pretty good year to be in San Francisco. Fun cars and boats. And the fashions: Men in suits, women wearing lipstick, sailors in dress blues. What do you think?

My grandfather took a trip through San Francisco in 1958, with (what I'm putting together) a group from the American Legion. Film was scanned at a discrete 1...

Sweet friend Kristiana & Silver Trailer knows how to show off her silver! Her Airstream has a starring role in this Miranda Lambert video. Love it!

Our vintage camper group has an annual rally in the redwoods of Felton, just outside of SantaCruz. There are 30-40 vintage trailers that take over the Smithwoods campground, and it’s pretty cool to see all of them parked side-by-side under the trees. One of our favorite side trips is driving into Sa…

Speaking of off-the-beaten-path wine trails: Have you tried any of these? We especially love the Sierra Foothills and Paso Robles, and have been impressed with some nice finds in Clear Lake. How about you?

Just a few steps off the beaten wine trail you’ll find these fascinating pockets of less traveled wine country. The scene is low-key and the tastings are cheap (and sometimes free).

Among of the things we appreciate while traveling the vintage backroads is agriculture — and the hard-working people committed to it. El Dorado County Ag in the Classroom connects kids to farming and real food. We look forward to their upcoming 20-mile dinner.

...don't have your tickets yet? Well, let us entice you with the reveal of one of our pairings celebrating our county's finest for the 2nd Annual 20 Mile Taste on August 16th, Holly's Hill Vineyards and Gold Vine Grill. Purchase tickets at: http://agintheclass-edc.org/ and support local agriculture, business, and youth.
