An amazing day with the david project .this day we met with the minister for Palestinian prisoners of the Palestinian authority. Comtinued to the church of nativity in beit lehem.
The day continued with a discussion led by roots- a co-existence orgenization and ended with a meeting with the mayor of Efrat -a large settlement south of Jerusalem.

A question I was asked many times in my sessions that deal with trauma is: what is the difference between American and Israeli society thst produces differnt numbers is su***de rate as well drug addictions of combat veterans ( the numbers in israel are a lot lower).
This might be one of the reasons, to sum it up it has a lot to do with the socciety around you and if you have a support system.

Today is the holocaust memorial day.
I started my day learning about jewish krakow a jewish community who was thriving for 800 years.
In the ghetto there is a square with empty chairs representing the community that is gone. Representing the void.
Today we sat as a community of 200 young jewish people from montreal canada in this square and heard the testimony of a survivor of the ghetto who is traveling with us.
The void in our people will always remain but in moments like this I feel we fill it a little bit.

In this picture you can see the entrance to the lodz jewish cemetery.
On the gate there is a star of david that in the puddle bellow is hardly seen.
In my eyes the goal of this journey is to bring the fading historical jewish story to a more relavent space that can potentially impact individuals to do more good.

Hi everyone I had a few thoughts on the upcoming Passover I wanted to share with you:
One of my biggest challenges is in the world has to do with language. I find myself many times trying to translate Hebrew into English and I can’t always find the right words. I feel as if the language comes from a different part of the world and the words many times don’t connect in a perfect manner. With that in mind I am going to try and share with you lovely people a thought I had in the past few days.
The word for חמץ (chametz) in English is translated to leaven bread; this translation in my eyes is not doing justice to the actual word.
In Hebrew the root of the word חמץ (chametz) is the same root of words that relate to the process of bread making but maybe the most interesting word that shares the same root is the word החמצה (hachmatza )which can be translated to missing an opportunity.
How many times did we think of those missed opportunities that never happened?
If we are looking at the holiday of Passover as a holiday that is trying to teach us about freedom and leaving slavery (mentally and physically). We might want to think about those times we are stuck in the past thinking of those missed opportunities, playing the endless game of what if. It seems that living in a mindset like that is limiting our ability to be here and now and move on and peruse our goals. Living in constant disappointment or the sense of a missed opportunity is in fact a form of slavery.
I wish you all a happy פסח (pesach) and hope we are all able to live a free life and not be slaves to our past.

If you would talk to me 5 years ago and ask me when there will be mixed gender prayer in the western wall in my opinion i would have probably answered that i dont believe it would happen in the next 30 years.
Its great to be wrong sometimes...its about time the option exists.

I try not to post every opinion piece i agree with but this one got me thinking.
Take 7 minutes of your time and read this:
"For the q***r Jew who runs an LGBTQ center on a college campus, where I was born is the problem. Not what I believe in. As progressive as she is, she feels comfortable discriminating against me because of my country of origin, which has nothing to do whatsoever with me as a gay Israeli man."

Only when we encounter the anti-Israel campaign within the LGBTQ community face to face does it become clear: their hostility is directed against only Israelis, no matter who they are, what they’ve done, or what they believe in.
