As with all rooms in Vandalia House, the billiard room is home to art found by riffling through antique stores across the city of Tulsa 🖼️

This fantastic poster dates back to 1895 and advertised the Barnum and Bailey Grand Water Circus. The vibrant colors, fabulous bathing suits, and depiction of swimmers jump from the dark teal walls of the billiard room!

Designer with selected this acrylic glassware for the Vandalia House... Isn't it fabulous??

The Art Deco gemstone colors range from warm golds and oranges to swanky blues and greens, and the collection includes both stemmed and stemless wine glasses, champagne flutes, and tumblers.

A bar cabinet stocked with acrylic stemware stands tucked in the corner of the billiard room. Inside you'll find a variety of cups and glasses as well as a few beverage cookbooks 🥃

On top of the cabinet and hanging on the walls, a fun scattering of antiques add a splash of color and cuteness to the space.

We're going room to room through the Vandalia House...welcoming porch and adorable turquoise front door leads to the spacious living and dining rooms...now we're stepping down into the billiard room and hours of fun competition 🎱

A Tiffany-style, retro-inspired billiard light illuminates new red felt, four pub stools provide a place to rest between shots, and a big screen TV airs a ballgame or music videos in the background.

The Vandalia House artwork is a plethora of unique prints, paintings, puzzles, and signs.

These four photographs overseeing the dining room table fit our rodeo vibe as though they were shot just for this space. Their black and white contrast pops from the warmth of the rustic wood frames which we bought from the Salvation Army Thrift Store for $5 each. And the photography is just gorgeous! The Vandalia House living room has two sofas (one regular and one love seat), two swivel chairs (straight from the '70s and soooo fun to twirl), a library of books, a wall-mounted television above the fireplace, and a turntable with dozens of classic country LPs (more about that in our next post) 🎶

An empty pitcher in a sparkly clean refrigerator?

What an odd post on Instagram!

But it makes sense...

The Vandalia House understands the importance of having a full pitcher of perfectly sweet tea on hand, even during vacation 🙌

Here's the recipe for our Southern Sweet Tea:

🔸 Microwave two family-size tea bags in 4 cups of water for 3.5 minutes.
🔸 After the microwave beeps, allow it to sit for a few minutes.
🔸 While it brews, in a 1-gallon pitcher dissolve 1 cup sugar in warm water.
🔸 Add the tea to the pitcher.
🔸 Top off the pitcher with cold water.
🔸 Enjoy served over ice and store in the fridge.

With Pawhuska just 45 minutes down the road from Vandalia House, where else would we go to stock the kitchen cabinets??

And of course, had the PERFECT dishes to go with our color scheme and midcentury rodeo vibe 🍽️

With enough plates and bowls for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert, you'll only need to run the dishwasher once a day, and your table settings will always be beautiful!!

An author and avid cook, our owner, .virginiadelesmith, felt compelled to set out a few cookbooks for our guests. Our designer, Clara from , also thought to print Vandalia House recipe cards so our guests can leave their favorite vacation recipes for others to try. What a fun way to build community and celebrate time together on vacation!

Antiquing in Tulsa means hours and hours of exploring the city...it also means fabulous finds like this Harvey Creek Oil Field Salvage calendar from January 1951. Somehow it made its way from Wichita, Kansas to the 918, and I'm so glad it did! Because now it lives in the Vandalia House and provides a cheerful pop of color straight from a midcentury rodeo 🐴

Why yes, those are magnificently green kitchen cabinets 💚

Remodeling the Vandalia House kitchen provided the perfect opportunity to update the old and sturdy wood cabinetry. But then, Glen with recommended keeping the midcentury, strong and sturdy authentic cabinets, and he was absolutely right! With a custom paint color matched to the green cacti in the wallpaper and their original silver hardware, these cabinets make a bold and beautiful statement.

More about the kitchen remodel...

The wallpaper isn't the only awesomeness!

In addition to new stainless steel appliances, we've removed the old clunky tiles and installed slate gray ceramic, pulled out the old formica countertops and replaced them with this gorgeous saddle-brown granite, and added a backsplash of warm, off-white subway tiles.

And just wait until you see the cabinets!!
