MY MIDDLE EAST TRAVELS UPDATE – Light/Sound experience at EXPO 2020

Yesterday I showed photos of the many cool buildings at Dubai's EXPO 2020...

But the main pavilion, set in the center of the complex is called Al Wasl Plaza...

It's an astounding, open-air globe with walls/ceiling sculpted into flower/bubble shapes...

Every night, beginning at sunset, there's a complex light/sound experience projected on the inside of the globe walls...

Here's what Al Wasl Plaza looks like in the day time, as well as a few still photos of the evening light/show experience...

MY MIDDLE EAST TRAVELS UPDATE – Dubai's cool EXPO 2020 complex...

Back in 2020, Dubai hosted an international EXPO.

They built a huge complex for the event, full of really cool, cutting-edge contemporary buildings and structures, all set in landscaped gardens * walkways.

Here are some of the beautiful & unusual buildings I enjoyed viewing while there...

Many of them are particular country's 'pavilions'...

I'm not sure what they're used for nowadays. I think they mostly are empty & unused, but I guess they sometimes are used for events and conferences ?

MY MIDDLE EAST TRAVELS UPDATE – My apartment comes with pool & gym!

Quite happily, I'm staying at plush Dubai Marina in a luxurious apartment for two weeks. Yeah!

I showed photos of the apartment and views yesterday...
..and HERE'S the pool & gym that I've been frequenting during my stay...

Yeah- GYM! OMG, it's sooooo great to be working out again!
..and, of course, it's great to lounge in the warm sun, poolside in afternoons.

I didn't think I'd be able to stay in such luxurious places in Dubai...but here I am! Yippie!

MY MIDDLE EAST TRAVELS UPDATE – Here's the 2nd plush apartment in Dubai that I'm staying at...

Yesterday I showed photos of the deluxe apartment cat sit I enjoyed over Christmas...

I left there on Dec. 29th and moved into a luxurious apartment at Dubai Marina...

So I got to spend NYE at gorgeous Dubai Marina, surrounded by stunning skyscrapers!

This huge contemporary apartment has a massive double living room, huge kitchen, three bathrooms and four bedrooms...
..AND a balcony overlooking a beach, bay and massive Ferris Wheel.

It's a shared apartment, so this time I'm not alone. Sigh...
..but all the other guests, from all over the world, are really chilled out, quiet and respectful. So all good!

MY MIDDLE EAST TRAVELS UPDATE – Check out my great cat sit in Dubai...

I've been staying in some pretty darn luxurious diggs here in Dubai lately!

Over Christmas, I took care of two lovely ginger cats for a Scottish woman on vaca...

Like many expats living in Dubai, she lives in a big luxurious upscale gated residential area, hers over=looking a plush golf course.

Here's the apartment building and huge outdoor deck and pool...
..and the very spacious apartment I stayed in, all to myself
..along with panoramic views of the golf course and distant city
..and, of course, beautiful Harry & Ella cats, who look almost identical

My thoughtful host even put up Christmas decorations in the apartment for me!

It was a FAB place to hang out for eight days with Harry & Ella.

MY MIDDLE EAST TRAVELS UPDATE – Check out this futuristic robot in the Museum of the Future, Dubai...

This museum features all sorts of cutting-edge technology...

This cool robot was roaming around the lobby during my visit...

(I later found a woman nearby who was controlling the robot by remote, though nobody else seemed to put two and two together)

If you don't know about the remote control, it appears that the robot is 'intelligent' and autonomously interacting with the museum visitors!

This amazing museum is so incredible that I'm going to spend all week showing different aspects of my experience there...

..some people claim it's the most beautiful building in the world!

MY MIDDLE EAST TRAVELS UPDATE – Here's Jumeirah Beach in Dubai...

First off, I want to qualify that this is NOT my idea of a great beach...

I prefer beaches that are 'au naturale' without any buildings or development...
..and beaches that are NOT crowded like this one
..not to mention all the entertainment stuff clogging up the beach and water.

But, I'm just showing you one of the beaches I came across while exploring the city.

Jumeirah Beach is just a few blocks over from Dubai Marina and a very popular beach.

Also, it may be surprising to you that most of the beach-goers are wearing bikinis and swimming trunks here in Dubai?

That was certainly a big surprise to me when I discovered it! I didn't expect that in the Middle East!

Anyhow, I hope I can find a much less crowded and more natural beach here!

Is there anyone who can give me a tip on quiet, natural beaches in Dubai?

..when I visited, I stayed well into the evening, just so I could see the marina at sunset and then illuminated at night.

MY MIDDLE EAST TRAVELS UPDATE – I present amazing Dubai Marina...

Previously I shared photos of Dubai's Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest skyscraper...
..and the gorgeous collection of skyscrapers surrounding Burj and Burj Lake.

But there are several other big clusters of ultra-tall skyscrapers in Dubai...

One of the most notable areas is stunning Dubai Marina...

It's a long but narrow, meandering body of seawater surrounded by skyscrapers...
..and a wonderful 7-mile-long walkway around the waterway.

I spent an entire afternoon & evening slowly walking slowly around and enjoying the ever-changing views of gorgeous buildings, boats and water...

EUROPE 2024 TRAVELS UPDATE – Flock of geese swimming down a canal! While walking doggie Ollie along the canal in Abcoude one day... I suddenly saw a huge flock of geese who were regally swimming along the canal! That's a sight you don't see every day! So I stopped to video their journey...

One day we had a ball, so I ended up repeatedly throwing into the river for Mora... Over and over again...until I finally left the river to head home... I'm sure Mora would have continued for hours! Lol

There's the vast pine forest – and a massive meadow/bog – distant dunes, beach & bay... Complete silence except for wind in trees and singing birds! Hardly any other people out there! Absolute paradise!
