The flowers were always so beautiful when hiking in the Sierra Norte. Taking a photo always gave you a chance to catch your breath too. Many of these were at 9 to 10 thousand feet of elevation.

Such a joy stopping by a field of marigolds, the flower used to light the path for the spirit’s journey home to the altar and celebrate the day of the dead in Oaxaca.

And the end of conference in Huatulco, I took passage on a yacht with as our guide… what a great time…. Dolphins we’re definitely a highlight as the jumped right next to me (swipe left) but we saw turtles and even caught a Spanish Mackrel as the mate just trolled while we were “Yachting” in style.
A great way to celebrate the conference. Thanks to all my friends (new and old) who invited me along for this passage too.
So at Atmex Conference there was a chance to get a quick “Limpio” (cleaning) but really more of a reading of your health … down this side alley, near artesian stands, there was a healer who provided a quick ceremony.
Some chanting, some rubbing, some incense smoke, a spit of alcohol on the back of the next and then she would rub an egg all over your body … this is to gain an understanding of your body once the egg is cracked and viewed … you can understand if you have ailments by viewing the egg … she mentioned I was a little stressed and tired but generally in good health - I needed some rest.
I agree, it’s always an adventure at Atmex and this year was no different but I head back to a busy season, a show, and family time… I’ll need to make sure I take a rest too.
We reached our highest point after waking up at 5am to start our journey through the Sierra Norte communities.. Mirador de Calaveras for sunrise is where it all began.
We gave thanks and appreciation, listened to a conch shell :-), had coffee, bread, jam and even mezcal. Yes, mezcal. What a great start to an incredible journey
