The next best thing to seeing what the world has to offer up close is reading about it. I took a book out of the library called “Why We Travel - 100 Reasons to see the world” by Patricia Schultz and I am definitely buying this book. It’s a very simple book - just pictures and some short stories that resonate with me.

On page 91 is a direct quote from George Balanchine while speaking to his dancers and it goes like this -

“What are you waiting for. What are you saving for. Now is all there is.”

How appropriate for those of us who say we want to do something but the time isn’t right. There’s nothing like the present. Get up and do it as you never know what tomorrow will bring.

This is why I love travel, both doing it myself as well as planning for you.

I don’t know about the rest of you but I have been wanting to do a cruise on one of the Virgin Voyages ships. So yesterday, I opened a group to sail from Miami to Key West to their private island in Bimini back to Miami. It goes out on November 29, 2023 and returns December 3, 2023.

In addition, I decided to do their Seacademy course and finished this afternoon. Now I am even more excited than ever to sail with them. Twenty one places to eat, lots of activities (classes, gym, boxing, karaoke, games, arcade, music store, the list goes on and on) and pretty much everything is included. They even give you extra money when you purchase a bar tab. The best thing is that if one person in the cabin gets it, the other person doesn’t have to! That’s a win win in my book. Better yet you can buy drinks for others with that money - there is no limit!

Their shore excursions are not like any other ship - what I love is they connect with the natives to provide the experiences so it is more authentic. And the tour groups are kept small.

Just wanted to let everyone know that this is something to consider when you cruise again.

It has been a very long time since I’ve posted anything so here goes. With the testing mandate gone (at least for 90 days), so many people will be out and about this summer. I for one, will be heading to Africa next week with my daughter and grandson for the trip of a lifetime! Heading to Tanzania, Kenya, Zimbabwe and South Africa, I get to cross off the number one item on my bucket list. AND I am crossing off the number one experience as well - a hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti. Folks, life does not get any better than this. To be able to see how other people live and to engage with them is the best experience that life has to offer.

Needless to say, I am not a big fan of the airports but if I took the slow boat to China, then I might not make it in my lifetime! Flying on Emirates and will be airborne for the better part of 25 hours but this is a small price to pay to experience this “once in a lifetime” experience.
