For one man in Jerome, Missouri, the Trail of Tears has not been forgotten. Or, better yet, by his own testimony, the ghosts of the Cherokee who once traveled the old trail, would not let him forget. According to Larry Baggett, an eccentric elderly gentleman who lived just outside of Jerome along old Route 66, he would often be awakened in the middle of the night with a knock on his door. However, when he would get up to answer, no one would be there. Even the sleeping dogs just next to the door were not disturbed.

The now Koken Art Factory near Jefferson and Gravois in South St Louis, was originally the home of the Koken Barbershop Supply Company. They made the first hydraulic lift barbershop chairs for the entire USA starting in 1894, and into mid-last century. The building sat vacant for a while before another St Louis icon, Panda Paint Company bought it in the early 1970s and used it as both their offices and paint manufacturing and distribution. The current owner bought the building 12 years ago, and wanted to give back to the community and started the Koken Art Factory, with space for over 30 creative artists in fine arts and music. We hold events here in three different venues, and are soon attempting to renovate a local venue into a theater and provide the area with something sorely needed - a great show venue with an upscale bar and organic themed top notch restaurant. . . .stay tuned
