A few days late but this was our final day (day 3) on the new trail for the 2025 season. I hope everyone has enjoyed the photos, and keep an eye out for the Big reveal later this summer. Ride on!

The Big BAM riders saw the Hotel Frederick mascot having a drink at the local watering hole. They enjoyed cranking out the miles before stopping at Meriwethers Bike Cafe in Rochport for some good food and conversation. Crossroads Bike Tours was at the SAG stop in Hartsburg helping to fuel up the riders and talk all things bikes, trails, and what's to come in 2025 from Crossroads. Enjoy the trail everyone!
The Big Bam is underway! The riders enjoyed some great music at the Hotel Bothwell, an Ascend Hotel Collection by Choice International. They stopped for a great lunch in Pilot Grove at Katarina's Homestyle Cafe then hit the trail after fueling up! One of our Big BAM riders had a very unique wooden bike I had to include too! Great times and lots of fun out on the Katy Trail State Park.

Day 6: This was our final day of riding on the Katy Trail MO. It started in Augusta with a great breakfast. We bombed the hill to the trail head and started out until we came to a downed tree. Crossroads guide Eli cleared a path and helped many people (not just our guests) over the tree and back on the trail. The rest of the day was smooth as we slowly saw the trail transition from pure nature to an urban setting as we got closer to St. Charles. Some of our guests made the ride all the way to the end to ring the bell while others headed to the Wine Cafe for one last lunch together. And just like that our tour and time together has come to an end. It was a fantastic group of people and it was a pleasure to share this experience with each of them. Thank you all for some great memories, smiles and laughs.
Day 5: We left Hermann and started our way to Augusta. Today was the best weather we had so far. It was a short day but really nice and cruisey. Looking forward to a nice dinner tonight with everyone before our last ride tomorrow and saying goodbye to our great guests.
Day 4: Started in Jefferson City today. We were all a bit worried about the rain in the forecast but the trail gods held it off. Everyone had a great ride and enjoyed lunch from Rachel Palada Collins with little notes in each lunch from her kids. We pulled into Hermann and went to Stone Hill winery for a tour and tasting followed by dinner. They were very friendly and the grounds are beautiful. The wine hit the spot too! As I write this we are enjoying free music outside on the patio and capping the night with a little beverage. Let's see what tomorrow brings. What are your favorite spots in Hermann?
Day 3: We started in Boonville and stopped for a picnic lunch from Rachel Palada Collins. She's located in Tebbetts, and everyone really enjoyed it! The day included run ins with a couple turtles, an eagle, hawks, lots of song birds and a copperhead. Everyone climbed the switchbacks up the bridge to get into Jeffersom City where we will hang our hat tonight. Has anyone seen some interesting wildlife while on the trail?

Day 2: Sedalia to Boonville. Great day on the trail, the rain held off and turned out to be a little sunny in spots. Looking forward to seeing what day 3 brings. What's your favorite segment of the trail?
This was our first day on the Katy.. Started out in Clinton with a stop in Windsor and finished up in Sedalia. Early rain made for a slow go but it cleared up and we finished the day with the sun on our shoulders. What a great group!
Everything is loaded up and ready to start the Fully guided Katy trail tour tomorrow. Strolled historic Main street in St Charles and ate at Salt + Smoke. Let's hope the weather works with us.

Hermann Bridge Construction is starting in April through May. Bridge will still have access, you might have to ride on the road during the construction. Here is the latest information.

MoDOT has announced that the bike/ped path connecting the Katy Trail to Hermann, MO (the path on the Christopher S. Bond Bridge that carries Hwy 19 into Hermann) will be closed temporarily during bridge maintenance, starting as soon as April 22nd, 2024.

The Christopher S. Bond Bridge bike/ped path, connecting the Katy Trail across the Missouri River to the city of Hermann, will be closed temporarily weekdays Spring 2024 for construction & maintenance.
The work also affects the Loutre River Bridge on Hwy 19, which is just south of the Katy Trail at McKittrick. Katy Trail riders visiting Hermann typically ride the shoulder of Hwy 19 south of McKittrick to the Christopher Bond Bridge, then use the bike/ped path to cross the Missouri River. So maintenance work on the Loutre River Bridge may disrupt bicycle use of the shoulder there, requiring bicyclists to ride with other traffic through the construction zone.
Closures will continue 7am-5pm Monday-Friday as long as work on the bridge continues - which could be into May or possibly even June depending on whether an other factors.
The path will be open before 7am and after 5pm daily, as well as on weekends. Also, starting in May work will end, and the path will be open, by noon Fridays.

How to stay riding in the winter. There is freezing rain here on the Katy Trail, snow on the Mickelson Trail, in Prince Edward Island and on the Great Allegheny Passage and C&O Towpath. So, it is to the trainer we go.
I get bored on a trainer but have found that watching some videos of the trails, keeps me engaged and riding for much longer than just sitting there inside.
