In Brazil, this couple planted 2 million trees in 18 years, returning 172 bird species, 33 mammals, 15 amphibians, 15 reptiles and 293 plant species.

The whole world should know them. This is Lélia Wanick and Sebastião Salgado.

The couple decided to start the Terra Institute, a small organization that planted 2 million plants and revived the forest.

"There is only one creature that can convert carbon dioxide into oxygen, and that is a tree." We need to replant the forests. "

Using only local plants, the couple rebuilt the entire ecosystem from scratch and the area flourished significantly, allowing the fauna to return; thanks to their work, Lélia and Sebastião saved dozens of endangered species.

"The earth was sad as I was, everything was destroyed. Then my wife got a fantastic idea to replant this forest: all the insects, fish and birds returned, and thanks to the new growth of the trees I was born again."

Our Story

We are the oldest and most established sea kayaking company on Vancouver Island. Over more than twenty years of operation we have molded our trip into refined experiences combining sea kayaking with wildlife viewing. Our staff make up the backbone of our company. Our guides, cooks and boat captain are passionate about what they provide for guests from all over the globe.

Our schedule for trips start in late June and ends mid September. We extend our season with a partnership with Telegraph Cove Resorts, Paddlers Inn and Agencies in Alert Bay. Our trips offer you a choice of three, four and six day sea kayak trips that profile the best the area has to offer. Each summer we have to tweek our trips to coordinate with weather, wildlife and tides in Johnstone Strait and the Broughton Archipelago.

Each trip offers guests an itinerary that accommodates a blend of on water and off water experiences that create once in a lifetime memories. We have trips that are set for families with children. We have trips that are customized to create maximum time with wildlife viewing and contact with researchers closeby. Our nomadic trips give guests skills that they can use anywhere in the marine environment. As the summer season comes to an end, we team up with local accommodations to offer a continuation of summer trips with the assurance of a comfortable bed.

We are a company that know the area and have competent staff to get the best out of everyday of the trip you choice with us. We have learned to listen to guests as the trips unfold to give that once in a lifetime experience. We are visible on facebook, instagram, utube and the web.
