"Scamp Failed the Shakedown Test!" This little 1996 16' Scamp is where it all began for FlyTheCoopRV. 🛻 James bought it as a gift for me, but the story doesn’t start there. His dad had originally purchased it 15 years ago and turned it into his backyard coffee shed. When we decided to take the plunge into RV life, we thought, "Why not bring this little beauty back to life?" Over two years, we poured our hearts (and nights and weekends) into renovating it. From black-and-white checkered floors to a retro turquoise fridge, we created our dream vintage camper. We even added a vinyl record table—every detail was carefully planned. But… then came the shakedown trip. That’s when we learned RV Lesson #1: Practicality beats Pinterest dreams. The dinette folded into a bed that was exactly 6 feet long. To sleep, spoon-cuddling wasn’t optional—it was mandatory. And if one of us needed to roll over, we had to wake the other person up, one would need to get OUT of the bed, so the other could roll over, then reset. 🤦🏻‍♀️. After a weekend of zero sleep, sore backs, and questioning all our decisions, we knew it wasn’t the right rig for us. The next day, it was on Facebook Marketplace. While it was tough to let go of something we worked so hard on, it was a crucial lesson: always rent or test out a similar rig before committing to renovations. This Scamp might have failed the test, but it’s where our journey began. And for that, we’ll always have a soft spot for this little camper. ❤️ Would you try RV life in a tiny rig like this? Let us know in the comments!"

"The heat in the South in the summer is no joke." 🔥☀️

This is our first real-life experience with it, and wow, it’s on another level. Coming from Iowa, I thought I understood summer heat and humidity, but the Carolinas have completely redefined it for us. Not only is it always sticky, but the dense trees make it feel claustrophobic, trapping the heat and humidity around us. 🌳😓

After enduring it for as long as we could, we finally decided to make a run for it. We’re heading to the mountains of North Carolina! 🏞️ The thought of temps dropping 30 degrees has never sounded so good. Can’t wait to breathe in that cool, crisp mountain air and leave the stifling heat behind.

Have you experienced the Southern summer heat? Let me know your tips for surviving it! Drop them in the comments—let’s help each other out!

Ladies, it’s time to see what the men are up to at Scissors & Scotch! This isn’t just a barbershop—it’s the ultimate grooming experience with haircuts, hot towel shaves, and even a speakeasy-style bar. James says it’s like a salon day for men, and after visiting, I totally get it! 🥂✨ From expertly mixed craft cocktails to relaxing lounges and even pool tables, Scissors & Scotch redefines self-care for the modern man. Whether you're in Charlotte, Dallas, or Denver, these spots are consistently amazing. And yes, some even offer mani-pedis for men—because why shouldn’t guys pamper themselves too? So next time he says he’s going to the barbershop, tag along. Or better yet, book him an appointment! Trust me, it’s worth it. Also if S&S is looking for a brand ambassador - 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️

This 4th of July, we decided to switch things up and experience the Hwy 21 Drive-In Harvest Host in Beaufort, SC—and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! 🎆✨

With three screens to choose from, a concession stand serving delicious food, and an owner who greeted us like old friends, this was a perfect escape from the usual chaos of campgrounds during a holiday weekend. 🚐🍿 But let's get real about the challenge: July in South Carolina. 🌦️

We were greeted by rain upon arrival, followed by seriously intense heat and humidity. Despite blasting the AC and running our generator, the sleepless, sweaty nights made it hard to enjoy the experience for more than one night. 😅 By morning, we were desperate to find hookups just to survive the heat!

Still, it was a unique 4th of July experience—definitely worth trying for the novelty, but maybe not in peak summer heat! 😜

Would you brave the heat for a drive-in movie experience like this? Drop your thoughts in the comments! 🎥

We made it to the Smoky Mountains! 🌄 After escaping the stifling heat of the Carolinas, we’re finally enjoying some cooler temps here in Newland, North Carolina—and it feels AMAZING. 😎

I’m soaking in the breathtaking mountain views while Yori burns off her energy in what I thought was the closest thing to a dog park: a school playground. 🐾😂 (Don’t worry, school’s not in session!) She’s loving the cooler air even more than I am, zooming around like the happy pup she is. 🐕💨

It’s moments like these that make RV life so worth it—escaping the heat, finding new places, and watching Yori thrive in the great outdoors. 🌲✨

Have you ever been to the Smoky Mountains? Share your favorite spots with us! 🗺️ We’d love to hear from you in the comments!
