🥟 Din Tai Fung Tour Recap 🥟

Our members had a fantastic time learning about the precision, teamwork, and dedication that go into running the global dumpling empire Din Tai Fung at their NYC location. From the intricate dumpling-folding process to insights on operations and hospitality, it was truly an eye-opening experience! 🔥

A special shoutout to the Din Tai Fung team for an engaging Q&A session and an amazing taste-testing experience—the chocolate xiao long bao was definitely a highlight! We left with full stomachs and even fuller appreciation for the craftsmanship behind every dish. Until next time! 🥢💜

Last week, students from the had the wonderful opportunity of attending the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality () Conference in Reston, Virginia. This conference included exciting networking opportunities, and engaging panels/workshops highlighting the hospitality industry.

Izzy An (), who attended the Conference, shares her experience, “Attending the NSMH Conference was an incredible experience, filled with insightful panels, engaging workshops, and an exciting career fair that connected us with top hospitality organizations. A major highlight was meeting Mr. Evan Frazier (), one of the founding members of NSMH, and learning about the organization’s legacy firsthand.

We participated in discussions on sustainability, leadership, and career growth, gaining valuable perspectives on the evolving hospitality industry. The conference wasn’t just about learning–it was also about building meaningful connections. From connecting over shared dinners to meeting students from universities across the country, we were all united by our passion for hospitality.

A huge thank you to Professor Brian Barker for organizing this trip and exposing us to such an incredible opportunity. Grateful for this experience and looking forward to bringing these insights back to NYU!”

What an incredible turnout! Over 80 attendees joined us for “Keepin’ It Real: A Thailand Workshop” with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT last Thursday.

Our students worked in groups to brainstorm and present innovative ideas on integrating AI into Thailand’s 2025 Flagship Tourism Project. The room buzzed with creativity, and discussions were insightful, sparking exciting possibilities for the future of Thai tourism.

The event also featured an exciting raffle, where one lucky participant scored a round-trip ticket to Thailand! And of course, the day wouldn’t have been complete without delicious authentic Thai cuisine and amazing networking opportunities with industry professionals and peers.

Thank you to everyone who attended and made this event a success—can’t wait to see where these ideas take us next! ✨

The Hospitality Business Society is a student-run club under NYU’s Jonathan M. Tisch Center. The organization is primarily for hotel and tourism management undergraduate majors. HBS serves as a resource to connect our student members with New York’s dominant hospitality industry through various events and initiatives, which span the realms of education, community service, career advancement, industry relations, and social networking. General meetings typically occur on a monthly basis, and a variety of our events are organized for both professional and social purposes. These efforts will allow students to build meaningful professional relationships with NYU faculty, industry professionals, and local community members. HBS was once known as the Pineapple Society, which honored the pineapple as a symbol of the hospitality industry.
