Time to start planning for next year's trips! Here's something you guys might be interested in doing in early June! We have this time available still, while it is about 27 miles away from our doors, it's an amazing drive right through Wind Cave National Park to get there..so worth every mile!

So now that it's off season there are a few projects we are working to get done. One of our guests pointed out that we could use better lighting above the kitchen table, we knew they were right! So since we'd designed and installed almost all the light fixtures ourselves we knew we had to do that again. Here's what we came up with, what do you think of our 'Industrial farmhouse' design light fixture?

We have to honestly say that we are loving the Black Hills! We moved here 10 months,3 weeks and 4 days ago. We first got our household settled and functional and then set about remodeling the apartment that would soon be named the 'Black Hills Hideaway'. In many ways, we are still under construction around here, but the apartment itself was finished and began accepting guests on June 1st, 2019. This summer has been a blast! We've had guests from all over the country! And we've enjoyed them all, it's been a wonderful first season for us and I just wanted to say so as this first great season is winding down. Although we love all of the hills we esp. love the even more laid back, wildlife full, healthful warm springs, friendly people, and gorgeous views of the southern hills. If that's what you love too, we'll be open for guests all year round (with great off-season rates) so book with us for those colder fall days and winter nights and come cozy up by the warm fireplace and enjoy this next quieter season with us! From one of our amazing local artists.

The inspiration for this painting was the leg stomping at flys. Yes that was the interesting part that made me really want to pain this image. I liked the composition but that leg made it feel real and dusty. Like you could feel a slight breeze hear the buzzing of the flies, the irritating tickle as they land on your nose and you shew them away. Like you could smell the horse manure and sweat of these big powerful animals. You can hear the slight jingle of the Barnes as he moves to stomp the flies away. Then as each brush stroke brought them to life they looked as though they were sharing a secret. So that’s what I names them, “Secrets.” Photo Credit Diana Allison.
