We reserved property #3307030 on VRBO and submitted our deposit of $3070.78. We received a receipt, confirmation, and a reservation # by email from Houzlet on June 22, 2023. We also received a confirmation email from VRBO on June 22, 2023. On Jan. 19, 2024 we received an email from Houzlet advising us that our reserved and confirmed rental condo was no longer available, and they offered us much more expensive units that we were not interested in. They then advised us to cancel our reservation and that we would get a full refund. Houzlet then said we are not entitled to a refund; then they offered a credit for a future rental; then they said to dispute the charge through my credit card company.
Houzlet should be banned from listing on the VRBO website! They apparently have a standard practice of booking properties and then cancelling them at the last minute and offering higher priced units. And then they refuse to issue a refund. I am reporting them and VRBO to state attorney generals, BBB, and social media. We are still fighting to get our refund.
