ding and other Texas Adventures. Route 66 is like a magical magnet. People from all over the world are drawn to the 2278 mile stretch of highway made famous by books, radio, television and movies. Texas is fortunate to have its own 175 mile stretch of the historic road, and the corridor passes right through the center of the Panhandle. Palo Duro Canyon offers spectacular views and numerous other activities. During the summer months a must see is the ever popular outdoor play TEXAS. Presented in the spectacular Pioneer Ampitheatre on the canyon floor, TEXAS is a colorful and exciting drama about early settlers in the area. From the dramatic opening when a lone horseman gallops high above across the rim of the canyon, to the final fireworks extravaganza, the world famous play TEXAS has been seen by travelers from every country in the world.
