Happy New Year to you all. As I look back at 2016, it was a wild ride politically and for us gun owners. I like the saying “Freedom isn’t Free”. Standing with the NRA, I encourage all of you to join. (NRA.org) Make 2017 the year you finally take a few classes or lessons at your local gun club or shooting range. Become familiar with pistols and rifles. I have had the pleasure of instructing many first time shooters with the first lesson being gun safety. America is strong today because we stand behind the 2nd Amendment and Freedom for all. Many of you know that I have a love of history and military history. At this moment, I am finishing writing my 8th book. On my website, (Ultimatesniper.com) you will see several shooting and historic articles, I have authored along with my books and DVDs. It is my hope to continue to write for a very long time to tell the story of many of the unsung heroes who have fought to secure our Freedom.

Message from John Plaster: My good friend and fellow Special Forces / SOG vet, Gary "Mike" Rose was just approved for the Medal of Honor -- nearly 50 years after the action. Here's the NY Times article from last Sunday, front page no less, telling Mike's story. It's still great news, even 50 years late!

ISIS is now training their own snipers, as I warned years ago. These and other terrorist sniper photos I've previously collected demonstrate a new level of sophistication-- although most of these snipers have SVDs with 4x scopes. However, I've seen others with Steyr SSGs. Man for Man, Gun for Gun, we still out class them, and they cannot possibly ever measure up to the likes of Chris Kyle.

ISIS has ramped up the propaganda battle in its bloody war with the West. It follows the release of the film American Sniper, which has been criticised for glorifying US military campaign in Iraq.

Recently saw, “American Sniper.” I give it a big “thumbs-up”. More than anything, Clint Eastwood got the “feel” right, whether it’s devotion among comrades, the dazed effect of going directly from combat to Stateside, and the regrets a veteran feels for the men he might have saved had only things been different.

Unlike most motion pictures of the Iraq War, “American Sniper” unequivocally portrays U.S. forces as the Goodguys. Left-wing critics focused on Chris Kyle for calling al Qaeda terrorists, “savages.” Well, what do you call people who videotape and celebrate beheadings, crucifixions, mass slaughters, tossing teenagers from rooftops and burning a caged man alive? Savages seems too polite a term for such human monsters.

Fellow Veterans and Patriots --

I must thank Jack Tobin, the Special Forces Association president, for reminding us of President Reagan’s warning, which he voiced in his final radio address – his concern about the future of American patriotism.

"Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free."

It is up to all of us to uphold the values of liberty and freedom which have made our country the greatest in history.

God bless America. May she always find men and women ready
to defend her.
