Lazonby & Kirkoswald are two villages which are situated in the lower eden valley of cumbria. Lazonby is very lucky with the amenities that it provides which being:-

nimals from artists all over the uk, campsite, livestock auction mart, an independent petrol station, village hall which hosts events all year round and it also has it's own snooker hall and a bar which the bar is for functions only, bells of lazonby bakery which has been going since 1946, st nicholas church, a chapel and a railway station which is part of the world famous carlisle to settle line. The parish of Lazonby contains no other villages but does include the settlements of Baronwood and Brackenbank. Kirkoswald is a former market town which is about 1 mile away from lazonby. The name kirkoswald means church of st oswald and the church is dedicated to saint oswald king of northumbria. The church has a very unique feature in which it's bell tower lies on top of a hill about 200 yards away from the church. It has a shop which is voluntary run, two pubs (the crown inn and the fetherston arms), there use to be a third pub called the black bull but it closed in the 1990's but the sign is still visible today. The village hall is situated at the back of the of the market square. Kirkoswald is within the Eden District of Cumbria. Included in the parish are the nearby village of Renwick and the hamlets of Staffield, High Bankhill, Parkhead and Scales. there is also methodist church and a primary school.
