Punakha Dzong, also known as Pungtang Dechen Photrang Dzong, is a historically significant dzong in Bhutan, located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Constructed in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, it serves as a stunning example of Bhutanese architecture and hosts vibrant annual festivals like the Punakha Drubchen and Tshechu.

I really don't like grouping photos together as I am sure many do not click on them to see what is on display. However, I guess this would be your loss if you don't look at this stunning property in the Thar Desert near Jodhpur Rajasthan. This is MIHIR GARH by Relais & Chateaux. I could come up with a lot of descriptive narration for you but I think the website says it best. 'Wide strokes and clean architectural lines seemed to make their presence prominent in our minds. Mihir Garh, the Fort of the Sun, was conceived that day. Guided by intuition, rather than reason; inspired by emotions, rather than rationale, bit by bit we gave our dream a form. More than a hundred carpenters, craftsmen and artisans from the region have worked tirelessly along with us, over two years to make our dream a reality. Harsh summers have not stopped them from creating a fort par excellence.'
This is of course an excerpt of the entire story as told by the owner.
From village safaris to royal picnics, from the novel experience of riding some of the finest specimens of Marwari horses, to watching a pronking Antelope, or simply gazing at the magnificent night sky after a Shikar Dinner, Mihir Garh will keep you yearning for more.

❤ Seth Bhandasar Jain Temple,Bikaner,Rajasthan, India

One of the oldest surviving structures in the city, it was built by merchant Bhandasa Oswal in the fifteenth century; his brother built one alongside it. It is beautifully preserved and in immaculate condition. Just look at the saturation of those colours and the perfect paintwork! According to city legend, 40,000 kg of ghee was used in place of water for the mortar that constructed it.

Indias regions all feature different flavours and in the north, Rajasthan has famously delicious street food. Stop at one of the many stalls to try plates of Pyaaz ki Kachori and Mirchi Bada. Why not wash it all down with a glass of Malai Lassi or Kesar Thandai. Ah yes, this is the real India.

One of my favourite forms of dance for expressiveness and theatrical presentation is that of KATHAKALI.

Kathakali hails from the vibrant state of Kerala in southwestern India. It is an entrancing Indian classical dance form that fuses elaborate costumes, dramatic makeup, expressive gestures, and storytelling. Emerging from ancient temple rituals, Kathakali evolved into a theatrical dance-drama under royal patronage. Kathakali performers, called actors rather than dancers, undergo rigorous training to master intricate mudras (hand gestures), facial expressions, and eye movements. The makeup, known as chutti, transforms their faces into vivid characters, while the towering headgear and vibrant costumes enhance the visual spectacle. With a focus on mythological tales and folklore, Kathakali narrates stories through stylized movements, expressions, and rhythmic footwork. The dance-drama's four main characters—Sattvik (virtuous), Angika (physical), Vachika (verbal), and Aharya (costume)—together create a mesmerising symphony of art and emotion that transports audiences into the heart of Kerala's cultural and mythological traditions.
