So with the Cedar Key fire yesterday many things happened.
First Cedar Key lost a huge part of it's economy and jobs. While not every job on the keys, it is a heavy blow to the whole island. Almost 100 jobs were lost, businesses lost huge amounts of money in equipment and inventories. People and families are devastated.
The First Responders did a great job. The Fire Fighters went so far as standing in the water under the structures to reach part of the fire! They really saved more than expected given the wooden structures in the conditions they were.
But many are asking what can be done to help Cedar Key? You can help by still visiting and spending your money there. Cedar Key has two types of income, Water related and Tourist related. They will need people to visit and continue to be a part of the Cedar Key economy.
There are several Festivals and events scheduled in Cedar Key in the coming months. DON'T CANCEL your plans and if you hadn't planned on going, go to show your support! There are also GoFundMe pages being set up. If you are not comfortable with that you can contact the businesses directly, pages below and contact information. Visit their pages and see what they are asking for.
