Loved having local artist Sheryll Fox join us during our December Making Connections session. We're back at Swindon Dance tomorrow from 1.30pm and can't wait to welcome everyone. Meet, Connect, Dance: https://www.neondance.org/making-connections

C R E A T I V E – I found 'Making Connections' in December at Swindon Dance really inspiring. This meter-square painting is one of two I made from sketches of the session (the other one is almost finished) and I have included some quick sketches here. The movement session was beautifully led by Yael Flexer from Flexer & Sandiland.

I’ll be sketching moving dancers again tomorrow. This month’s meet-up is led by Theo Clinkard and anyone is welcome to join in the inclusive movement work. It starts at 1.30 pm.

Neon Dance 👈 Here’s where you need to go to book your free place or to find out more.

Thanks to Sarah and Adrienne for inviting me into your creative space.

Do you make dance happen? If you're involved in the dance industry in any capacity, there's a survey currently open to allow you to share your thoughts and opinions.

It's been put together by the Future Ecologies: Producing Dance Network, which aims to work towards a sustainable and inclusive future for the dance sector. There's a draw for a £100 voucher for contributing.

Join us at Swindon Dance! If you're a Swindon or South West creative then Making Connections is for you. Designed as a space to develop your practice as well as meet others, this month's 2-hour workshop will be lead by dancer Yael Flexer and followed by an informal meet-up.

The improvisatory workshop will focus on developing a connection to our bodies and each other, drawing on ideas from Yael's productions Imagining Otherwise and Acting Our Age, created with Nic Sandiland for their company Flexer & Sandiland.

Next session: Fri 29 Nov @ Swindon Dance, 1.30pm

Come and explore approaches to getting your creativity flowing - you don't need to be a dancer to take part.

“Last and the First Man” premier at 2024
Captured by at the main stage of one of my favourite venues in Berlin,

Presenting my work with at a full house was truly a magical way to mark 10 years of our fruitful collaboration. 🥰

Body-extensions and artefacts (still nameless - but I’m on it) are inspired by spider morphologies, and their ability to create spider web structures. Specifically, I looked at three-dimensional ‘cobwebs’ and spiders’ mooring threads, that connect spider’s webs to surfaces while also creating surface-to-surface connections.

The performance is set against the backdrop of Johann Jóhannsson’s 16mm black and white film Last and First Men (2020), which is based on the ground-breaking 1930 sci-fi novel by Olaf Stapledon.
To make this collaboration even more special, the film features abstract stone monuments (that we call “Spomenik”) erected during the communist era in the former Yugoslav republics (which happens to be my birthplace).

*The pre-premier of this work was presented at the in London in 2023.
