Update: The Moser Fire has increased to 65% containment and remains at 96 acres. Crews continue to monitor lines and look for hot spots and ensure the fire line is secure. Fire is continuing to smolder and creep within containment lines, but no new growth is present at this time.
With the upcoming anticipated wind events, crews will focus on ensuring hotspots are addressed and all lines are secure.

Holloman AFB, White Sands, Fort Bliss…. If you can get away this Thursday afternoon, from 1300 to 1500, and show up in uniform, I’ll buy your lunch of any of our many sandwiches, a side and a drink! If you’d rather have a meat and a side, as long as we still have it, I’ll take care of you! You see, the show, America’s Best Restaurants will be filming at the bbq joint Thursday afternoon, and we’d love to show our support for y’all. After all, you are a big reason for our success. When you visit Cloudcroft, make time to go to the White Sands!

This year we will host nine ranger guided Moonlight Hikes between March and November 2024. These programs give visitors a chance to enjoy the peace and serenity of this elusive environment after dark and experience stories and resources the park has to offer.

Previously known as Full Moon Hikes, the Moonlight Hike better describes the special opportunity visitors have to experience the dunes at night as the moonlight reflects off the bright, white gypsum sand. Please see the 2024 Moonlight Hike schedule below.

Wednesday, May 22 at 7:30 pm Saturday, June 22 at 8:30 pm
Saturday, July 20 at 8:00 pm Tuesday, August 20 at 8:15 pm
Wednesday, September 18 at 7:15 pm Wednesday, October 16 at 6:00 pm
Saturday, November 16 at 5:00 pm

Tickets are required for the Moonlight Hike program and must be purchased through Recreation.gov. Tour fees apply and will be charged by recreation.gov. Park entrance fees also apply and will be charged at the park. Tickets become available two months before the day of the tour at 8:00 am Mountain Time (e.g. a tour on March 25 tickets will be on sale at 8:00 am MT on January 25). Participant capacity for Moonlight Hikes is limited, and tickets often sell out within minutes. There is no waitlist for sold-out tours.
