Hot off the press: a feature on my new online guide to Abu Dhabi in the latest edition of Bahrain’s Gulf Weekly newspaper. Home for 6 years, Bahrain will always have a very big place in my heart as it was so welcoming and really became home, so it’s not surprising perhaps that a journalist on its national newspaper was the first to pick up on my Sheikh Zayed Storymap, touching on some links in the guide with Bahrain. The lead picture, for example, features Abu Dhabi-based German historian Frauke Heard-Bey shaking hands with the King of Bahrain (then Crown Prince), His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with Sheikh Zayed in the 1970s. Resident in Abu Dhabi for 50 years, Frauke also established the National Archive and wrote the definitive history of the UAE so it was a privilege to interview her for the guide (her interview is attached to Point 7 on the map).
