We always see this when driving to see Rita the Troll and Cripple Creek or Jeep trails in Woodland Park. Finally stopped in. Wow! Very unassuming little place that is fantastically classy and yet still casual. The outdoor creekside dining and fire pit area is going to be great in the spring. Very nice date night, girls night or Tuesday night. Try many local Colorado wines and beers at Wines of Colorado
Avanti Winery | Gars & Grapes Pinot Grigio was excellent, their Reserve Cab was my absolute fav. They have so many good wineries represented and every red I tried was bold and full of flavor. Many Colorado beers also, like the Breckenridge Brewery Nitro Irish Stout, smooooth!

Camelback Mountain - not for the faint of heart. Two trails in 2 days! I did both the Cholla Trail and Echo Canyon Trail. Each starts at different ends of the mountain - you hike the full length of the camel to reach spectacular 360°views at the tippy top. Felt super proud. They are great hikes! And it's kinda neat to see this huge mountain in the middle of Phoenix and know you were at the top!
After reading a bit, it sounded like the general consensus was Echo being the harder trail. In my opinion, that is WAY completely backwards!! Both are considered strenuous, "extremely difficult", rocky and steep. Cholla was fine getting to the top, a few climbs, it's a mountain... but when you cross the ridge of the camel's back, that was mildly terrifying for me, lol! It's narrow, you are scaling walls at a couple points, and the drop offs are real and even if you don't look down, you know it's sheer and it's steep. Echo Canyon Trail was a lot of rock scrambling, and climbing, pretty steep but not dangerous if you stay on the path. I didn't once think I was going to die (unlike Cholla). The piles of huge boulders don't stop and it's pretty vertical at times. In one stretch, they have embedded a steel railing because its basically a slick vertical rock path and you may to grab the pole to keep from sliding. It's a good leg day but not terribly exhausting if you are in shape. There are plenty of areas to take pictures (ie, catch your breath), and both trails meet at the summit at the top.
Wear grippy shoes and if you do both trails in 2 days, gloves might help because your hands are on the rocks a lot, esp coming down, and if they are tender like mine you'll feel it. Water is a must, it is Arizona after all.

Celebrated our anniversary by hiking 8 miles to see the Faithful Couple in Mariposa Grove.
My best friend turned 50 and celebrated in Napa Valley. To make the most of the trip - we decided to celebrate our 21st anniversary and went to Yosemite a few days before! Win-win! We flew into San Fran Wednesday night, drove to Yosemite, stayed in the greatest lodge on the river, headed over to Napa on Saturday and had a wonderful weekend. Back to San Fran Monday- great triangle trip and we saw SO MUCH!
Traveling is great - when you can do it with friends, it's even better. We love going to our vrbo rentals but sometimes we go see new things too. Always scouting out the next one. Follow us!
