Here’s your December home-maintenance checklist:
☑️ Check your weather strips, especially on doors, to ensure hot air is not leaving and cold air is not entering.
☑️ Check smoke detectors. It’s estimated that 30% of most fires occur during the months of December and January.
☑️ Insulate exposed water pipes to prevent them from freezing or bursting, which can lead to flooding.
☑️ Run water in unused areas of the home. Unused drain water can evaporate, potentially allowing drain flies (aka sewer flies) or fumes to enter your living space.
☑️ Check attic insulation to prevent gradual damage to your home caused by heat and moisture.
