I’m heading home today, and like always I was thinking of packing every last available second full of Disney fun.

But last night was supremely late (nearly 2am!) so when I woke up my body told me a slow roll would be the way to go. I packed up my things and had one last coffee on the balcony overlooking the savanna. I put my things in my rental car. And I joined the walk-up list at Boma, Animal Kingdom Lodge’s all-you-care-to-enjoy buffet restaurant.

This majestic space somehow retains its ability to be cozy, and the top-notch service from Cast Members makes you feel quite welcomed and cared for! The buffet features a wide array of choices - meats, cheeses, vegetables, and a balanced offering of African dishes alongside the more familiar offerings. And yes, there are Mickey waffles! But also??? SIMBA waffles!

This late breakfast decision was the best one I could have made today! I am full, and satisfied, and best of all, relaxed! When you stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge made sure to experience Boma. You’ll be glad you did!

After my wonderful Magic Kingdom morning yesterday, I returned to Animal Kingdom Lodge for some lunch, pool, and rest time. Boy did that feel good!

Later, I met back up with my friends at Hollywood Studios for an event called Moonlight Magic, a special offering for Disney Vacation Club Members.

Now, you can’t purchase a ticket to this, so I won’t go too much into specifics. But what I will tell you is that in many ways this event is similar to After Hours, hard-ticketed events offered to all guests here and there throughout the year!

And just yesterday, dates were released for the 2025 events!

I have my eye on a couple of dates - because these nighttime events offer guests exclusive access to the park after it has closed to all others! This affords you the ability to enjoy attractions with minimal to no wait which in itself is wonderful! There is often special entertainment, rare characters, and select snacks and beverages included with your ticket. And the parks at night are just - sigh 😌- so magical!

So although the event I attended last night is not available to everyone, After Hours is, so let me know when you’d like to go! And I can get you all set up!

What’s a spectacular morning I had at Magic Kingdom!

I met my friends in the hub at 8:20 for our 8:30 early entry hour. A 8:30 when the rope dropped we headed right to Peter Pan and waited a short 14 minutes! From there we kept rolling, enjoying attraction after attraction with little to no wait!

How? Early entry, for one, but also there is a party tonight at Magic Kingdom! And when the park closes early for a party, crowds tend to be VERY low!

In all, we enjoyed:
Peter Pan
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Haunted Mansion
Pirates Of the Caribbean
Country Bear Jamboree
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (by VQ)

I rode Tiana’s a second time with a Lightning Lane Multipass, and hit The Magic Carpets Of Aladdin on my way out!

It’s now just after 12 and I’m heading back to my resort for some lunch, pool time, and a rest!

I can’t believe how much fun we had in less than four hours!!! And it was all the more so because we did it with friends!❤️

It’s a Magic Kingdom kind of morning!

Guests staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel get 30 minutes early access to all parks every morning! They start letting guests in about 45 minutes before *that* time. So even though the park is not open to offsite and day guests until 9 am today here I am inside the park before 8am!!

The light is so perfect at this time of day, and with minimal people inside it’s a great time to get some photos!

I have a real love affair with the Tree Of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. I love wandering the pathways examining the sculptures on her trunk and I always find new ones!

When I left Nomad the rain had stopped. And I looked on My Disney Experience to find that the safari was. 5 minute wait! AND Gorilla Falls was back open.

So I made my way over and indeed the safari - which I waited 35 minutes for in the morning - was a WALK ON! It was slow going due to some rhinos who kept getting in the road, but we had several up-close views of lots of animals as a result!

So two tips here: hang on through the rain because it scares people out of the park, and always remember the safari is different every time you ride. Side note: it’s often the very best when it rains because the animals enjoy the rain!

After the safari I wandered through Gorilla Falls and while not a lot of friends were out, the gorillas were AMAZING!

Let’s see.. where’d we leave off? 🤔

I popped into Adventurers Outpost to say hi to the head Mouse and his best gal, ran into Kevin, and wandered Maharaja Jungle Trek, but most of the animals were in from the heat 🤷🏻‍♀️

I snagged a frozen Coke which was 😌 and stopped me from melting. 🫠

I hopped aboard the Wildlife Express and made my way to Rafiki’s Planet Watch to enjoy the Animation Experience!In this experience a Real Live Animator helps you, a Real Live Non-Artist, draw popular characters from Disney movies! Since Animal Kingdom is currently celebrating The Lion King’s 35th anniversary, the focus is on those characters! I created a pretty recognizable Zazu!

On my way out I saw Timon! The skies were darkening but he and I agreed: Hakuna Matata! No worries!

While I was on the train back to Africa it began raining, so I ponchoed up and carried on! I have found shelter from
the storm at my favorite lounge in my favorite park in all of WDW: Nomad Lounge. It will be nice to sit a while and enjoy 😊

After my safari I wandered over to catch the Finding Nemo show.

For a long time I skipped this show, and I don’t really remember why. But about a year ago I gave it another go and dang I LOVE it!!! Maybe it’s where I am in life with one adult daughter and a son approaching adulthood, nearly ready to go off into the Big Blue World themselves, but I appreciate the message of this show - that if you never let anything happen then NOTHING ever happens - resonates so much right now

Don’t miss this one. Don’t make the same mistake I did visit after visit. Get in and see this show next time you’re here.

If you guessed Animal Kingdom, you’re right!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is my very favorite WDW park ❤️You know that feeling of complete escape, when your shoulders relax and you breathe a little more deeply? When you feel peace and serenity that can’t be found in the day to day?

That’s how I feel when I am in this park ❤️. The first sight of that magnificent Tree Of Life puts me in a whole new frame of mind. Wandering the pathways, spending time with the animals, and yes enjoying the rides and attractions is, for me, a perfect Disney day!

Good morning from Animal Kingdom Lodge!

Every Walt Disney World resort hotel has its own scent, in keeping with its overall theme. AKL is definitely one of my favorites! It’s a warm, cozy scent that combines with the scent of the fires used for cooking at the two restaurants, Boma and Jiko, and it is absolutely divine! Walking through the lobby I find my self breathing deeply to take it in! I just love it here!!

It always seems to take forever to get here. But this makes it all worthwhile!

I’ll be at Animal Kingdom Lodge this visit, and this savanna view room has a view that’s incredible! Several animal friends are here to greet me on arrival!!

I went to Tanzania last summer on safari and this takes me back!! Animal Kingdom lodge is so perfectly themed — if you never get to Africa yourself, staying here would be about as authentic an experience as you could get!
