We learned today that our beach restoration project could start about July 13, 2022, which is a few weeks earlier than expected.

The Dredge Ellis Island, the largest hopper dredge in the US️ 😎 , worked her magic off Nags Head during our 2019 nourishment project, moving some serious sand. She's now hard at work off Avon, NC. When she finishes there, she'll sail to south Nags Head and construction will begin.

While we will post periodic updates on social media, we will not update Facebook and Instagram every day. BUT, we will update the progress map on our web site daily so you can see where the beach closures are and in which direction construction will progress.

Weather forecasts can change rapidly. Check the forecast before you head to the beach. If thunder roars, head indoors. Lightning often strikes more than three miles from the center of the thunderstorm, far outside the rain or thunderstorm cloud. “Bolts from the blue” can strike 10-15 miles from the thunderstorm.

Woohoo!! Farmer's Market is back!!

Our first farmer's market of the season will take place Thursday, 5/27/21 at Dowdy Park at 3005 S. Croatan Hwy near MP 11. The markets are a great chance to buy local: veggies, crafts, baked goods, and other foods and offerings. Pls bike/walk if you can. Parking is limited. 🍅🎂
