The history of the Wheeler Cabin is as deep and wide as the lake on which it sits. Since the early 1900s, Lake McDonald has seen generations of the Wheeler family in residence. And of the many champions working to preserve this rich history, Glacier National Park Conservancy and Glacier Park Collection volunteers top the list.

Alaska is full of road trip-worthy gems. From the Dr. Suess House in Talkeetna to Igloo City in Cantwell to witnessing the Bore Tide in Turnagain Arm, there are far too many things to see in just a couple of weeks in Alaska.

During the summer months, the Alaskan sky is bright all night — it truly is the land of the midnight sun. But, by September the skies are aglow with spectacular northern light displays like this one captured in Talkeetna.

Visitors to Alaska only have the chance to experience one sky or another, but when you spend an entire season in the last frontier, you'll get to witness it all.
